Man On The Spot's guide to Saturday's TV racing & Sky Bet offers

Resident tipster Man On The Spot previews Saturday's TV action, while you can check out all of Sky Bet's big racing offers.

1.50 Newbury - Denford Stakes 7f

Money Back with Sky Bet if your horse finishes 2nd or 3rd

ANOTHER BATT has the form in the book with a narrow-margin defeat in Listed company at Ascot three weeks ago. George Scott’s charge is preferred to Hey Gaman, who returned to winning ways at Newmarket last time but has something to prove on earlier efforts in pattern company. Better is expected from both Learn By Heart and Red Mist given they are both entered in Group races later in the year, as is the filly Ripley who went close at Goodwood on her racecourse debut.

2.10 Newmarket - Randox Health Grey Horse Handicap Stakes 6f

Sky Bet paying FOUR places instead of three (1/5 odds)

DARK POWER followed an easy success at Nottingham with a victory at Leicester last week and carries 6lb extra. But a hat-trick looks on the cards given the modest recent form of today’s opposition including Syrian Pearl. The latter won this last year but hasn’t figured so far this season while Cappananty Con won a lower grade sprint at Wolverhampton last time and Le Manege Enchante landed a Class 6 contest at Thirsk. Case Key was runner-up at Yarmouth recently while Cheval Blanche drops back in trip having won twice over further this year.

2.25 Newbury - Betfred Geoffrey Freer Stakes 1m 5f 61y

Agent Murphy won this in 2015 but raced just the once last year and hasn’t been seen on the track since. Frontiersman found stablemate Hawkbill too good in a messy Group 2 race at Newmarket last month but the latter has been beaten since. The Godolphin colt has to give weight to the younger Defoe in this and the latter continued his good progress with a Listed win at Hamilton last time. Roger Varian’s colt may not have finished improving yet but neither has TO ETERNITY, who landed a Listed contest at Newmarket after nearly a year off the track and gets the nod to show further progress today. Wall of Fire ran well in the Ormonde at Chester earlier this season and is preferred to stablemate Crimean Tatar and also Horseplay on that form.

2.45 Newmarket - Randox Handicap Stakes 6f

Back Merlin to win the 2.45 at Newmarket right here

Merlin won easily at Haydock last month but is upped a couple of grades off a 9lb higher mark and ULTIMATE AVENUE is preferred. He was beaten less than a length over track and trip last time with Bacchus over two lengths behind and the latter has subsequently gone close here himself beating Eqtiraan, Tommy Taylor and Danielsflyer. Dakota Gold and Victory Angel are other recent winners but are raised in class while Silent Echo drops back in trip having disappointed at York last time.

3.00 Newbury - Betfred TV Ladies Day Handicap Stakes 7f

Sky Bet paying FIVE places instead of four

SUN LOVER has gone close in both starts this year, including a head defeat at the hands of Classic Seniority at Doncaster last time. The latter has won again subsequently so the form looks solid enough. Squats has struggled so far this season and Ionization has no easy task 5lb higher than when going close at Haydock earlier but Mountain Rescue won nicely at Newmarket last time and Realize can do better back on a faster surface today. Thirsk winner Theodorico also has a shout but Hyde Park has lost his form and Mullionheir hasn’t won since landing this in 2015.

3.15 Ripon - William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap Stakes 6f

Sky Bet paying SIX places instead of four

Nameitwhatyoulike won this last year with Pipers Note, George Dryden and Snap Shots all beaten and can race off a lower mark today with an apprentice taking a further 5lb off his back. Out Do landed the Wokingham at Ascot in June with Eastern Impact and Shanghai Glory behind but the latter has since finished a close-up fifth in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood. Robero won a lower grade sprint at Pontefract last month but Flying Pursuit was ahead of Muntadab and Hoofalong when scoring in this grade at York three weeks ago and is preferred. Mattmu is another to consider off his current mark but GROWL makes most appeal of Richard Fahey’s four runners having been beaten a length in the Stewards’ Cup a fortnight ago and he should go very close with a similar effort in this.

3.35 Newbury - Betfred TV Hungerford Stakes 7f

Sky Bet's latest Hungerford Stakes odds right here

A highly competitive renewal with 2014 winner Breton Rock penalised for winning the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood recently. But Librisa Breeze ran into a wall of horses in the same race and will be fancied to reverse running in this. NATHRA also had no luck in-running on her return to action in a Listed race at Ascot. The Gosden filly had some smart form last year and should fare better today. Stablemate Daban was expected to finish closer in the Jersey Stakes last time but both Kaspersky and Mix And Mingle have the past form to figure. Massaat and Spangled are not out of this either though both lack race fitness on their belated seasonal debuts.
