Free betting tips: Man On The Spot guide to the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Chantilly

Resident tipster Man On The Spot guides you through the action from Chantilly on Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe day.

1.10 Total Prix Marcel Boussac

Aidan O’Brien is no stranger to winning this and both of his most recent winners, Ballydoyle and Found, were placed in the Moyglare Stud Stakes over 7f at the Curragh before landing this. MAGICAL finished runner-up in the latter contest three weeks ago and, having won her maiden over today’s trip earlier, should go very close. The home challenge is led by the unbeaten Polydream, who beat subsequent May Hill winner Laurens, to land a Group 3 at Deauville last time while Soustraction beat Godolphin’s Wild Illusion over track and trip on her latest start. Mission Impassible has won in Listed company but further progress is expected from Jean-Claude Rouget’s filly and she may well improve past Zonza and Germany’s Narella.

1.45 Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere Grand Criterium

HAPPILY is the only Group 1 winner in the field and it was testing ground when she won the Moyglare at the Curragh beating Magical, due to run in the previous race. She’s a sister to Gleneagles, harshly demoted in the 2014 renewal having passed the post first, so this extra distance should not prove a problem as Aidan O’Brien’s filly takes on the colts. Masar also steps up in trip after winning the Group 3 Solario at Sandown and is preferred to stablemate and Champagne Stakes third Mythical Magic while Francesco Bere has won a Listed race at Deauville and collateral form gives him the beating of Olmedo. Woodmax has won a conditions race at Maisons-Laffitte and makes up the field.

3.05 Qatar Prix de l'Arc De Triomphe

It’s difficult to oppose ENABLE despite the calibre of today’s opposition. A wide-margin winner of four consecutive Group 1 races, John Gosden’s filly is clearly the one to beat. Winner of the Juddmonte International at York, Ulysses was over four lengths behind the selection in the King George at Ascot earlier with Idaho further back in third. The latter is one of five Ballydoyle representatives with Ryan Moore preferring prolific Group 1 winner Winter, who landed the Nassau over 1m2f at Goodwood, over Irish Derby and Doncaster’s St Leger hero Capri and Irish St Leger winner Order Of St George. Zarak beat Silverwave to land the Grand Prix Saint-Cloud but had earlier fallen victim to Cloth Of Stars, who in turn was beaten by the German challenger Dschingis Secret in the Prix Foy here. Japan’s Satono Diamonddisappointed in the Foy while French Derby winner Brametot ran no sort of race last time but this longer trip should suit and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back with a big run in this.

3.50 Prix de l'Opera Longines

Ryan Moore partners Hydrangea for the first time today after the latter won the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown with stable companion Rhododendron behind. But both have something to prove over today’s longer distance and compatriot Shamreen is preferred having won a Group 2 contest over 1m2f at the Curragh. Wuheida won the Marcel Boussac on this card last year but was no match for LACAZAR (NAP) in the German Oaks at Dusseldorf in August. Peter Schiergen’s filly has every chance on that form and will relish the soft ground. Last year’s Breeders’ Cup heroine Queen's Trust has yet to win this year but should have the measure of both The Black Princess and Melesina while Senga won the French Oaks here and is preferred to Onthemoonagain and Left Hand.

4.35 Prix De l'Abbaye de Longchamp

It was good ground when Marsha won this last year and also when landing the Nunthorpe at York on her latest start with BATTAASH back in fourth. But Charlie Hills’ sprinter had beaten the former in soft going at Goodwood before that and he makes most appeal on today’s surface. Profitable finished behind the above pair at both Goodwood and York and was beaten in this last year along with Duke Of Firenze and Finsbury Square. The latter finished behind Signs Of Blessing at Deauville recently and Queen Kindly faded badly in heavy going at Haydock last time but Fashion Queen was placed over track and trip in last month’s trial here and Alphabet was runner-up in a Group 2 at Naas on her latest start.

5.15 Qatar Prix de la Foret

Plenty with claims in an open renewal. Brando beat Aclaim to win the Maurice de Gheest over an extended 6f at Deauville in August and the latter went on to land the Park Stakes at Doncaster last time. Toscanini was narrowly beaten over today’s trip at York with So Beloved behind while Realtra made a successful journey to Ireland when winning a Group 3 at Tipperary. Zelzal is a Group 1 winner and has claims if back to his best but KARAR is fancied to go one better than last year and pick up the spoils. He found Limato too good last season but finished in front of Attendu on that occasion and should be spot on today having beaten both Dame Du Roi and Zalamea when winning a course and distance trial last month.
