A modest beginning with Amazing Amaya’s victory here last month coming in a classified stakes – her only win in handicap company so far came at Southwell. True Hero is penalised for winning on Fibresand last Friday so this looks a good opportunity for NELLIE FRENCH (NAP) to follow up her recent course and distance success as she overcame trouble in-running to score a shade cosily in the end. Red Stripes is often placed but is 0-31 here.

Most would have some sort of chance in this and many are old rivals. Fighting Temeraire is back over his best trip after a run over a mile at Chelmsford and the same can be said of Chookie Dunedin, a five times winner here, after he was slowly away over 6f at Newcastle. Keith Dalgleish’s charge has a decent chance overturning running last month with both Baby Steps and Tintoretto. Mohareb has placed twice over track and trip and should be thereabouts again but the vote goes to PARALLEL WORLD, who has done all of his winning over 7f and could take some pegging back today if getting to the front from a wide berth. Dutch Decoy also enters the equation but his second at Newcastle suggests he’s a few pounds too high now.

Who Dares Wins has been a grand servant to connections and is a former winner of the Northumberland Plate but he was three lengths behind the in-form Lucky Deal at Kempton. True Destiny and Stargazer were also unplaced in that contest and Andrew Breslin’s mount is preferred to returning stablemate Watersmeet. Nate The Great has only run here twice before and has placed on both occasions but DAL HORRISGLE is even less exposed. Well regarded as a three-year-old, the Nathaniel gelding has had his problems since but caught the eye at Kempton last time and is on a fair mark at present.

MICHELE STROGOFF is hard to catch right but has tumbled down the weights since a close fourth here last summer and his turn may have come around again. Ivan Furtado runs three but Broken Rifle has already been beaten under his penalty so Hector's Here may prove the pick of the trio. Never Said Nothing has found only one too good in each of his last three starts here, though one of those was a claimer. Laurentia is only 2lb higher than when scoring at Lingfield in November but hasn’t threatened since.

A return to Tapeta could see Crownthorpe rediscover his best form but Sky Defender has only raced on this surface once before and was well beaten. The top weight, along with Power Of States, was no match for ASSIMILATION at Lingfield last month and Ed Walker’s gelding, who landed the Lincoln Trial here last year, looks the one to beat again given he’s still improving. Fox Premier has been very lightly raced but does have a bit to prove returning from a break.

Sammarr won well on debut at Lingfield, overcoming a wide draw. She could be anything but the same can be said of NEW EXCEED, who possibly hit the front too soon here last month and ran green in the closing stages – she gets a handy 7lb from the Varian filly. Queen Charlotte and Secret Shadow have both shown ability on Polytrack and are open to improvement so this is no two-horse race.

TOUSSAROCK has been threatening to get his head back in front and he’s proven over the trip unlike Obtuse. Nortonthorpe Boy is upped in grade and also the weights and may come unstuck while Praise Of Shadows makes his all-weather debut following wind surgery and a subsequent lay-off. Sweet Bertie is unexposed and has a first and third to his name here so looks the biggest threat to the selection.
