A race-by-race guide to Monday's card at Flamingo Park with Now And Forever rated the best bet.

A tricky opener with several arriving in decent form. Spanish Fort has only found too good the last twice over course and distance. What A Seven beat Dolphin here last month but the runner-up is much better off at the weights today and is fancied to turn the tables. However, Steph Miller’s seven-year-old was some way adrift of WEST OF SEATTLE here earlier this month and the latter is fancied to get back to winning ways today with the nearside rail to help. Concealed Secret and Elegant General look best of the rest.

The ratings suggest this should be a shoe-in for ROYAL REWARD. She finished a long way ahead of Chapel Lass, Atwaar, Tiddlywinks and True Jewel over 5f here last time and, though probably not lasting home over an extended 7f at Vaal last month, should cope with the extra furlong. Eurovaar was second over an extra half-furlong here last month but doesn’t have a progressive profile overall while it’s difficult to see any of the others overturning the likely hot favourite on their form to date.
1.20
Edo Furin’s latest third here came over 6f but it is probably the best recent form on offer and he had a few of these behind on that occasion, though he has been done no favours by the draw. Superbus has changed stables and is fitted with a hood today but would have a chance on his best form, though his last run was over 1m4f. Geoffrey Palace was a bit better dropped in trip here last week and is less exposed than most but a first try over a mile may well suit SENOR TIGER. Returning from a break over 5f here last month, Bill Human’s gelding wasn’t given a hard time but still finished ahead of Toureiro and Lost Monarch.
1.55
Tac It Twice wasn’t beaten far over 5f here on debut but was no match for easy winner Crimson Castle over 7f on a return visit and it remains to be seen if the extra furlong will be in her favour. Miss Caruso was a length behind in that latter contest with Yvonne’s Princess and Rock Princess out with the washing while Love To Give has plenty to prove at present. VENUS FLYTRAP was clear of the third when second to Carry Me Carrie over track and trip two weeks ago. That was easily her best performance to date and it wouldn’t take much more to land this.
2.30
At The Opera won over a furlong further here last week having finished second over 7f the time before. This intermediate distance shouldn’t prove a problem, though it took him 10 attempts to get off the mark. NOW AND FOREVER (NAP) is having a first run for Paul Matchett but has a pretty good overall record and it will be a surprise if he is not in the shake-up again given he may be able to dictate from his inside berth. Stablemate Private Ruler has disappointed the last twice but is handicapped to go close if back on song while Bollemakiesie is back over his best trip.
3.00
OH YEAH is at the top of his game and, though possibly a bit better over a mile, is entitled to be thereabouts again as he has a good draw and is very much at home on the sand. Free Deal had Proposition five lengths adrift when successful over a slightly shorter trip here two weeks ago while a case can be made for Manaftermidnight on his best form. The Private has left Michael Roberts’ yard since last month’s second at Greyville but also goes on the shortlist. Bold Matador is back over his best trip so can’t be ignored.
3.35
This has an open look about it but Our Moon Shadow may need this. Bright Flame has been knocking on the door in slightly better company so is unlikely to be far away. Via Sacra won over 7f here last week when returning from a break and entitled to strip fitter today. Immortelle probably has each-way claims and Takatul should benefit from his rider’s claim but French Legend’s recent second came over 7f. LE TIGRE was quite impressive in a handicap here last month. This is his trip and he has a nice starting berth so a follow-up could be on the cards.
4.05
Crimson Castle had been threatening to get her head in front before bolting up over 7f here two weeks ago. She’ll take all the beating again if in the same mood, though she’s not raced over a trip this short since last winter. A winner three times already this season, KILDONAN PRINCESS goes from strength-to-strength and the handicapper may still be playing catch-up with Cliffie Miller’s filly. She can concede weight all round as Rock To The Music has lost her way a little and Foursixsixfour returns from a break. Glad I Am could be best of the rest but is hard to catch right.
4.40
Sheza Rockstar has solid handicap form and Zietsman Oostuizen’s mare should give a good account but she is probably better over shorter trips and there is a good chance that the form of CARRY ME CARRIE’s maiden victory will have been boosted earlier on the card. The three-year-old also has a decent claimer, who has a good strike-rate for this yard, on board. Her yard also runs My Elusive, who has each-way claims, and it will be a surprise if Dance Dance is not in the firing-line again given she is very much at home around here, though not particularly well drawn today.
