Trainer records – General thoughts:

Four popular trainers at Chester saddle plenty of runners, boasting winners on a fairly regular basis.  That said, winners come at a cost because Tom Dascombe, Richard Fahey, Mark Johnston and David Evans have recorded a level stake aggregate loss of 245 points during the last five years at Chester (all meetings – includes yesterday’s sport) via a strike rate of just 12.3%.   Best case scenario is a loss of 41 points (David Evans) alongside the most negative figure of 70 which was posted by Mark Johnston.  These findings are poor given the quality of trainers on offer.

The four trainers have saddled 119 winners at all meetings at Chester during the study period, though an average of less than six gold medallists each per season is scant reward for 48 runners each year, especially by their high standards.
