Johnny Burke: "He missed a few on the way round, he's a funny horse. I always saw him as a stayer but his strength is in how quick he actually is. That's the first time he's got a really fast pace to run at and he was giving me the confidence say from four out just to wait and wait, it was good. He's hard work at home, everyone has a go at riding him, and he pulls most days at home; he's his own worst enemy really but when he turns up like that in races like this he's great and hopefully he can start training on."
Verdict
Javert Allen best.
Parade ring updates
9 Rath Gaul Hill - will come forward a touch for the run.
10 Abingworth - red hood, but nicely together and calm, fit.

4 Uncle Phil - some rib definition, still may improve.
8 Luminous Light - small, slim and athletic, built uphill, fit.
3 Rare Edition - some fair definition, might be seen to better effect next time.
5 Doyen Du Bar - well muscled despite a long break, worth consideration.
7 Javert Allen - big, solidly built chestnut, strong and walking actively without getting overwrought.
2 General Medrano - some definition behind but heavy through the girth, still some improvement to find.
6 Ryan's Rocket - two handlers in the preliminaries, started keen and has settled well, should come forward a touch.

Dan Skelton: "She's nine years old and I said to Bryan [Drew, owner] if she was seven I wouldn't do this, only 14 days apart, but she's nine years old, she's in the form of her life and Harry said 'go on, get stuck in'. Amazing. He's given her an absolute brilliant ride, fair play to Tristan, we trusted him. He's improved this year like no other rider I've managed; it's confidence, Harry giving him the right help, us giving him the inspiration to go and do it and he was brilliant on her there.
"She took off after the last, she was brilliant. She's a credit to herself, 14 days later. Celestial Gold did it years ago and I was lying in bed the other day thinking I can only think of one horse that's ever done this, now there's two."
Harry Skelton: "Delighted, fair play to the mare, she's tough. I thought we'd better run. She's been there, she's a tough mare and an older horse like that you can back it up and bring her out again. Brilliant for Bryan Drew and Tristan.
"The New Lion is okay. We just took a chance and he come down. We'll reassess him, make sure everything is right and go again."

Verdict
Three Card Brag, the main pick. Lowry's Bar, Perceval Legallois and Hyland also liked.
Parade ring updates

7 Resplendent Grey - taking preliminaries well, tends to present heavy, fine for him.
18 Katate Dori - will come forward for the run still, more improvement to find.
15 Myretown - red hood but taking proceedings well, not unfit but will come on.
14 Riskintheground - might still need another run.
23 Inch House - looks in good order.
17 Panic Attack - not as well as when sighted at Cheltenham.
13 The Changing Man - big, strong sort, has improved from last season, looks well.
2 Intense Raffles - not one of the most appealing from a fitness perspective, can be tricky with the greys.
19 The Doyen Chief - neat gelding, okay fitness.
21 Moon d'Orange - slim and slender, little tense in the surroundings, seen him better.
12 Annual Invictus - coming back after a long break, will still step forward.
4 Spanish Harlem - big, strapping gelding, powerful, okay.
5 Perceval Legallois - little to fault, muscle definition through, notable.
8 Gorgeous Tom - small and unassuming, in fair order.
9 Lowry's Bar - fit enough after a break, good muscle definition behind.
20 Grandeur d'Ame - not standing out on fitness, still might continue to improve through the season.

1 Monty's Star - fit and well, wearing the red hood but taking preliminaries well.
3 Three Card Brag - can’t fault on fitness, tends to present well, positive.
11 Hyland - in great order, can often look half asleep in preliminaries, better than usual, early positive.

Harry Cobden: "He's quite a keen going horse but I managed to get a few breathers into him on the way round and he's jumped well. I thought after his last run, or the previous times I've ridden him, he gets two and a half well so I thought we'd make it into a test, that was probably why I got at him a bit sooner than usual. He was meant to go chasing but he's stayed over hurdles and won another nice pot, we've got options now.
"10-2, I've lived on a slice of ham and an apple the last three and a half days but if Inch House wins it will be well worth it. He's got a nice chance but at the same time he's got 23 others to beat. I thought the chase track was genuine good to soft and i thought the hurdles track was soft all over."
Verdict
Indemnity and Indeevar Bleu the best pair.
Parade ring updates
5 Indeevar Bleu - fit and well after a break.
7 Viyanni - starting to get on toes, okay fitness after a break, similar to one of the Derhams earlier in the day.
6 Hot Fuss - small and whippy; athletic type, okay.
8 Indemnity - one of the better horses in here, fit and powerful.
2 Give It To Me Oj - always presents well, deep chest and deep girthed, fine for him.
3 Tutti Quanti - still might come forward for another run, big strapping gelding and still a little more to find.
4 Col Du Pre' - fit enough for return but very toey, needs a run to take the edge off potentially.
9 Last Rodeo - presents heavy, but he’s built that way. Has improved from last start.

Johnson White: “We had slight concerns about the ground today, but equally we needed to find out whether he went on the ground to give us a guide where go for the rest of the winter. Harry said he was very versatile and very straightforward. He will get further, but equally he has got the gears to travel well over that distance. He is a very exciting prospect and he has done everything right. I think we can safely say he would have won at Chepstow that day.
“I think on today’s evidence we can make that step up in grade, but we need to go back to the programme book and make sure he is okay after today. He has won nicely, without winning by too far. He is a very nice prospect and he will jump fences as well. There are lots of nice options for him. Harry was available and he is riding as well as ever. You can’t turn down the services of Harry Cobden if he is available. I did tell Harry when he came back in that he would be wrong to charge a riding fee to ride that as my grandmother could have won on him!”

Verdict
French Ship and Loverdose the best pair.
Parade ring updates
9 Personal Ambition - in fair order, have seen him look fitter last year, might be seen to best effect next time.
14 Dominic's Fault - very on edge and toey, needs to settle.
7 No Ordinary Joe - big stockily built sort, still will come forward.
1 Santos Blue - needs the run after a break.
5 East India Express - warm on the neck, has been noted on previous runs, okay.
3 French Ship - always presents well, good looking horse, fit.
12 Benign Dictator - not grossly unfit after a long break, looks in fair order.
13 Loverdose - notably fit, tend to present that way from the yard. Well muscled, athletic, very positive.
6 Sonigino - neat and well put together gelding, will come forward for the run.
8 Guard Duty - lean, light framed type, might come forward a touch.
15 Torquay Road - no fitness questions but very toey, would like to see him settle.
11 Kepler's Law - well muscled and strong gelding, likeable.
10 Royal Rambler - strong and sweating heavily in the pre-parade, concern.
4 Lud'or - alert and active in the walk, very fit, early eyecatcher.

Toby Lawes: “He is a big raw horse. He has still got so much to learn. I thought he would come and run well, but to travel like he did in the race shows that he is a lovely horse that has a big engine. I saw him after ran in his first point-to-point and I absolutely adored him. I said we should make an offer on the horse, but I was told to wait and see as the form hadn’t done much. He ran again and I was able to buy him. He is just a proper horse that has developed so well.
“He finished fourth behind Kalkbrenner last time and he made a mistake two out, which is usually three out, when he was travelling well into it. He is such a big raw horse he could have done the same thing today, but Kev got him spot on. Kev came in and said run him in the Challow Hurdle, but let’s just play it by ear.”

Verdict
Kocktail Bleu and Kalkbrenner the best pair.
Parade ring updates
1 Kalkbrenner - second handler added as starting to get on toes, nothing of concern. Fit, strong.
3 Burncourt Boy - light framed compared to some of these, more of a classic hurdler, fine.
9 Gower Spirit - another professional individual, high level of fitness (one of better in the field).
2 Kocktail Bleu - catches the eye as very professional and straight forward, compared to a few babyish types. Solidly built gelding, fit for frame.
8 Buddy Holly - one of the better types, good muscle definition over quarters, like.
7 Walk Tall - should come forward for the run, big rangy gelding, lovely free moving walk, a little babyish.
5 Kiwi Rush - lovely stamp of a jumper, has size and scope without being overly raw, might come forward a touch but not unfit.
6 Klimt Madrik - nice demeanour, boots in front, has length and size, fine.
4 Grand Garcon - won’t get this gelding much fitter, but it’s matched by his level of keenness. Two handlers in the pre-parade, will need to be managed.

Olly Murphy: “He did too much the whole way through the race today. I did warn Sean to be careful that he doesn’t jump into the bridle as he was very free the first time out last season. This horse is an enigma. I took the hood off him today, but he has got a lot of ability. I was delighted with that.
“I might do something crazy and literally not bring him back until March as he is very good fresh. We might go look at an Ultima or something like that. He is a good horse. His first run for the last four years that I’ve had him he has won first time out. I’m not saying I’m going to definitely do that as the owners want runners, and understandably so, but I think freshness is key. If we didn’t do that he would have one run and go there.”

Verdict
A lot of these look to be around the 80% mark; Hunter Legend fittest, Tahmuras as a potential each-way.
Parade ring updates
6 Prairie Wolf - fit and fine.
4 King's Threshold - okay, might still come forward a touch still, will keep improving.
5 Booster Bob - another returning horse who has definitely done some work, around 80%.
7 Brave Kingdom - not unfit on return, might find a bit more improvement.
10 Wiseguy - narrowly preferred of the two Henderson horses, has done a fair amount of work.
2 Bhaloo - neatly put together, okay definition, fine.
3 Scarface - looks heavy through the girth but built that way. Not standing out like Tizzard horses have been doing.
9 Leader In The Park - not a major concern after a break, has got a little warm and tense but isn’t unfit.
12 Solly Attwell - won’t find a horse with a deeper chest and girth in the field, there’s plenty of him. Big frame, but undoubtedly fit for his physical.
11 Eyed - definition on the hind end, deep girthed, fine.
1 Tahmuras - looks well after a long break, strong gelding who is well muscled over the quarters.
8 Hunter Legend - small gelding, dwarfed by a lot of these. Fit, has clearly improved for comeback run.

Gavin Sheehan: "She was very smart, she was slightly big at the first, missed the second and after that I promise you she was unbelievable. They picked up a little bit turning in, just gave her a bit of a squeeze and she was straight underneath me and from there it was just about being patient up the straight and have a go at the back of the last. She has got speed, she stays as well, she's got a few things going for her.
"She didn't mind the ground but I didn't think it was too bad - good to soft, soft. They've given us three panels of fresh ground, I'll tell all the other jockeys to go wide, it's better out wide! She could well be [a Cheltenham horse] but I'm very much one that likes to let them keep on improving, let them get there. Our eyes could be on Cheltenham and we could work back from there but to me it's just about building each time; Jamie is very good at what he does and he'll do that himself, he'll probably test the waters in her next run a bit more."

Parade ring updates
8 Sheezer Dancer (see below also) - has become very warm.
2 Clondaw Park - leggy and light framed filly, fit for reappearance. Looks a little physically weak and has time to grow and fill out further.
1 Charisma Cat - will come on for the run, needs it.
10 Whimsy - having a little look and veering on the keen, fit but looks a little raw.
9 Watamu - strong filly, chaser in the making, big model and taking preliminaries well.
7 La Conquiere - a ‘today’ horse. Physically forward compared to some of these and less raw/gangly. Ready and fit.
5 Jasmine d'Airy - close coupled filly, quite stocky and well built compared to some of these lighter models. Fine.
8 Sheezer Dancer - athletic filly, busy in the walk and always veering on keen. Fit but needs to be managed.
4 Jaminska - a bit plain compared to some of these, sighted at Cheltenham when third and has gone backwards.
3 Hornica - if you wanted to make a horse, she would be it. Neat, has a bit of leg, not lacking for size but not overly big. Makes appeal.
