Sir John Lavery in Lingfield Derby Trial

Sir John Lavery is the headline act after eight colts were declared for Saturday's Betfred Derby Trial at Lingfield.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien has won this Listed prize on four previous occasions and in Sir John Lavery he appears to have another major contender.

The Galileo colt built on a promising Curragh debut last October with a runaway success at Gowran Park a week later and he is currently a best priced 16-1 for next month's Investec Derby at Epsom.

Godolphin had several possible runners at Monday's confirmation stage but Sheikh Mohammed's operation relies on Saeed bin Suroor's Best Solution and the Charlie Appleby-trained Zamfir, who steps up in class after making a winning debut at Leicester in early April.

Mark Johnston saddles Frankuus and Sofia's Rock, while John Gosden is also double-handed with both Glencadam Glory and Tartini in the mix.

Apex King, trained by Ed Dunlop, completes the line-up.

Just six fillies contest the preceding Oaks Trial at the Surrey circuit.

O'Brien is represented by Pocketfullofdreams, while Gosden sends Hertford Dancer and Mary Anne Evans into battle.

Ralph Beckett, who has twice won the Oaks at Epsom, has an interesting contender in Camerone, who was last seen winning at Brighton in October.

Harry Dunlop's Flight of Fantasy and the William Haggas-trained The Sky Is Blazing are the other runners.

Qemah is the star turn in the Group Three Betfred "Supports Jack Berry House" Chartwell Fillies' Stakes.

Jean-Claude Rouget's dual Group One winner, who will be ridden by Frankie Dettori for the first time, is joined on the trip from France by Narnia Dawn and Rien Que Pour Toi.

The home team includes Chris Wall's Mix And Mingle, the Roger Varian-trained Realtra and Ashadihan from Kevin Ryan's stable.
