Lacey has already surpassed his best ever tally for a season and was registering his 22nd victory of the campaign here.
Those punters who noticed it was Tom Scudamore's only ride of the day, in a race in which his brother Michael had a runner, were rewarded at odds of 15-2.
"The ground was horrendous when he ran at Warwick last time, but he kept on galloping today," said Lacey "It's our best ever season already, it's going well thankfully."
Neil Mulholland's Carole's Vigilante eventually landed the odds in the second division of the myracing.com Maiden Hurdle.
Sent off at 1-3 having shown form in two bumpers previously, victory did not look likely at one stage but Noel Fehily persuaded him otherwise and he ended up running out a cosy winner.
"It might not have been pretty, but Noel didn't want to hit the front too soon," said Mulholland. "Noel said he's still a baby, down at the start he was still whinnying. After his bumper he got heat in his leg so he's not been over-trained, he'll improve for today. The track was a bit tight and he might be better going left-handed. He's a chaser in the making."
The first division went the way of Rock My Style (9-5 favourite) for Warren Greatrex and Richard Johnson.
Royale Zanzibar (12-1) looks a young horse with a future after his win in the myracing.com For Free Hereford Tips Juvenile Maiden Hurdle.
Having shown promise in France, he was well beaten on his debut for the yard at Newbury before being ultimately well beaten. He knew more about the job this time and obliged for Aidan Coleman and Tom Symonds.
