Guineas favourite Goddess back in Silver Flash

Goddess is the star attraction in the Jockey Club Of Turkey Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown on Thursday.

A daughter of Camelot out of a half-sister to Galileo in Cherry Hinton, Aidan O'Brien's filly stepped up massively from her Curragh debut when registering a hugely impressive 10-length victory over this course and distance a fortnight ago.

That display saw her promoted to ante-post favouritism with some bookmakers for next season's 1000 Guineas and her Classic credentials will be given a thorough examination in this Group Three contest.

O'Brien also saddles Naas maiden winner Secret Thoughts, while his son Joseph is represented by narrow Fairyhouse victor Vallambrosa.

Setting the standard on form is the Patrick Prendergast-trained Skitter Scatter, who was touched off by Aidan O'Brien's So Perfect in the Group Three Grangecon Stud Stakes at the Curragh earlier this month.

Prendergast said: "You'd be worried about Goddess and one or two others, but Skitter Scatter is very well and we're looking forward to running her. She's improving with her racing and I would expect her to run her usual, solid race. She had to do the donkey work over six furlongs the last day and saw it out well. Stepping her up to seven was something we had to do. She has a likeable attitude and it's nice that every time you go to the races with her, you're as confident as you can be that she'll run well."

Henry de Bromhead's Chicago May, the Ger Lyons-trained Moravia and Sparkle'n'joy from Jessica Harrington's yard are the other hopefuls.

Man On the Spot: Aidan O'Brien generally runs potential top-class fillies in this and has won six of the last nine. GODDESS has a superb pedigree and she could prove a stable star this year. A line should be drawn through her debut at the Curragh as she came here to land the odds in spectacular fashion earlier this month - it will take a big effort to lower her colours. Her stable companion Secret Thoughts had to battle to beat Rita Levi at Naas and the latter was beaten at long odds-on next time but Skitter Scatter looks one to test the selection's credentials. She beat Sergei Prokofiev at Dundalk and was only headed in the dying strides by the smart So Perfect in a Group 3 at the Curragh last time. Vallambrosa was behind in that latter contest and, like the remainder ,has some progress to make to test the principals.

Four rivals for Van Dyck

Group Three honours are also up for grabs in the Japan Racing Association Tyros Stakes.

Aidan O'Brien has claimed this prize on a record 11 occasions, including in each of the last four years.

Rip Van Winkle (2008), Gleneagles (2014) and Churchill (2016) are among the former Ballydoyle-trained winners and this year the all-conquering team rely on runaway Killarney winner Anthony Van Dyck.

The son of Galileo faces just four rivals, with Jim Bolger's pair of Bold Approach and Copia Verborum joined by the Lyons-trained Invasion Day and James Nash's Hammersmith.

Man On The Spot: Aidan O'Brien has won the last four, three of them long odds-on, and ANTHONY VAN DYCK can continue the sequence. After a promising run at the Curragh, he was sent to Killarney to lose his maiden tag and obliged in very impressive fashion. He takes on much better opposition here but looks one to follow. Jim Bolger is doubly represented and Bold Approach was also impressive on his debut here in May. He's been given time to mature and Kevin Manning chooses him rather than Curragh maiden winner Copia Verborum, who hasn't progressed as expected. Hammersmith hasn't done enough to merit consideration while Invasion Day finished last in a Group 2 at the Curragh after landing a Cork maiden.

Nine go to post for Vinnie Roe

Later in the evening, a field of nine runners is set to go to post for the Kingdom Of Bahrain Vinnie Roe Stakes, a Listed event run over a mile and three-quarters.

Likely contenders include O'Brien's pair of Cyprus Creek and and Sizzling, Bolger's Stanerra Stakes winner Cimeara and Night Of Power, who is on a hat-trick for John Oxx.

Man On The Spot: Cimeara showed her liking for this trip with a convincing victory over Sizzling a couple of weeks ago. She's only 3lb worse off with Aidan O'Brien's filly and should confirm the form. CYPRESS CREEK (NAP) also represents the latter's yard and he's another who has done well since stepping up in trip. Always travelling nicely when scoring over 1m5f at Ballinrobe, he's a full-brother to Capri and has the scope to go on to better things. The King has run very well in tough handicaps recently though they were over 1m2f and this is a big jump in distance. Bandua won a couple of minor events on testing ground at Cork and it was a leap of faith sending him to the Curragh for the Derby but he ran well for sixth behind Latrobe and his trainer must believe he'll stay this trip. Drapers Guild, runner-up at this level at Navan, has been unable to make the transition into Group 2 company subsequently but has no problems with the distance.
