Dean Ivory will be turning the clock back 20 years should he saddle Lancelot Du Lac in the William Hill Great St Wilfrid Stakes at Ripon.
Ivory's family co-owned and co-trained Bon Ami, who won the Hornblower Stakes at the North Yorkshire course as a two-year-old in 1998 and was then beaten a short head by Pipalong in the 1999 edition of Saturday's prestigious six-furlong handicap before finishing fourth to William's Well in 2000.
"It would be a nice race to win," said Ivory, contemplating the journey north from his Hertfordshire base in Radlett.
"We had a horse called Bon Ami with Jack Berry, and my dad (Ken Ivory) had a 50 per cent share.
"Bon Ami used to go to Jack's for a year, and then would come to my dad for a year. They did really well with the horse."
Lancelot Du Lac, winner of the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood in 2017, returned to the track for the first time since February when sixth to Stone Of Destiny in the Shergar Cup Dash at Ascot on Saturday.
"He was off for a while, because he had a bad injury when he came out of Wolverhampton," said Ivory.
"He went into the rail - but he's over that now.
"The ground didn't really suit him, and he didn't let himself down.
"He hit the stalls and cut himself. He anticipated the gates and hit his head or his mouth, but he's all right."
