Kinross is set to get the chance to further enhance his Classic potential by having his second start at Newbury on Saturday in the Group Three Cancom Stakes, registered as the Horris Hill Stakes.
Kingman colt Kinross made a stunning debut when he trounced a field of more experienced rivals winning by eight lengths at Newmarket earlier this month, which earned him a quote of 25/1 for next year’s Qipco 2,000 Guineas.
He is one of 18 entries in the seven prize, one of two Group races staged on Worthington’s ‘Remember Together’ Family Raceday, the final Flat meeting of the 2019 season at Newbury, which has also attracted Dewhurst Stakes fourth Year Of The Tiger, one of four from the stable of Aidan O’Brien.
Kinross, bred and owned by Julian Richmond Watson, earned a Timeform rating of 106P after such a commanding first time out performance.
"I was expecting him to run very well, to hopefully win," said Beckett. "We weren’t expecting that. His starting price (3/1) reflected our view.
"The rating he got for his debut is not something I have ever had for a debutant in 20 years. Let’s hope the form people are right.
“Kinross will do a bit more work in the morning and the plan is to run him on Saturday. We are forecast a dry week and it was good to soft when he won but I imagine it will still be good to soft at best this weekend. Whatever it is we have got to get on with it because he needs to run again."
Beckett's team have hit peak form during October winning two Group Three and three Listed prizes to amass over £250,000 in prize-money.
He also plans to target the Group Three Victoria Club Stakes, registered as the St Simon Stakes, with the filly Manuela De Vega.
The three-year-old, who finished fourth in the Investec Oaks, will be aiming to round off her campaign with her first win of the year against a field that could comprise last year’s dead-heat winner Young Rascal and Morando, winner of the Group Three Cumberland Lodge Stakes last time out.
“Manuela De Vega is a probable runner as well," said Beckett. "We have been happy with her of late and this looks like a good spot for her after her run at Chester."
