Iain Jardine took the training honours at Hamilton with a 21/1 double when his only two runners, Yes You and Tor, did the the business at the South Lanarkshire track.
Jamie Gormley showed he could be an apprentice to follow as the 7lb claimer made all the running on the game Tor (9/2), who put up a determined effort to upset the 4/9 shot Hochfeld in the Racing UK Handicap.
Though Hochfeld appeared menacingly on the scene in the straight, Tor had much more resolution and shrugged him off to score by a length and a quarter.
The leading pair drew six lengths clear of Warp Factor in third, with Be Perfect last of the four.
The Dumfries handler said: "It was a very game performance by Tor. It was brilliant and both winners were given good rides.
"We've got a couple here tomorrow and both could run well, fingers crossed."
Tor is declared at Haydock on Friday but it is odds against him being asked to make a quick appearance so soon after giving his all.
"It's unlikely he'll go tomorrow. We'll make a decision in the morning," said Jardine.
Yes You (3/1) initiated the brace, keeping on gamely to open her account at the seventh attempt in the Watch Racing UK In HD Handicap.
Receiving plenty of weight from her six rivals, the three-year-old led a furlong out under 3lb claimer Nathan Evans and took the spoils by a head after being hard-pressed by Dark Forest.
Jardine added: "She's a tough filly. She did well to go through the gap and won well in the finish. It was great for her to lose maiden tag."
Seamus Cronin was another apprentice seen to good effect as he guided Mohab (6/1) from last to first with a shrewd move in the Welcome To Racing UK Club Members Handicap.
Spotting a gap on the far rail, the 7lb claimer took his chance and Kevin Ryan's four-year-old stuck on well to hold Desert Ruler by two lengths.
Joe Fanning did it from the front on Mark Johnston's Jive Lady (2/1) in the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes.
The jockey made it a quick double by employing similar tactics on Kodimoor (9/2), trained by Chris Kellett, while Johnston was also on target at Leicester with Ventura Knight.
Archie Watson's first runner at Hamilton was a winning one as Snowy Winter (8/1) got the better of Pioneering by a length in the Racing UK HD On Sky 432 Maiden Auction Stakes.
