Daryl Jacob is facing at least three weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a hand injury in a fall at Musselburgh on Monday.
His mount Guena Des Mottes departed three out in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Introductory Juvenile Hurdle when leading the field and the Sporting Life columnist is now set to miss the full festive programme.
He said: "Unfortunately I'm going to be out for at least two or three weeks with a hand injury. I'll be out all over Christmas but with a bit of luck will be back early in the new year.
"It's been a tough week with my two falls and then the horses ran a little flat at Sandown as well. Thankfully Top Notch got us back on track by winning the Peterborough Chase.
"Then at Musselburgh on Monday I took a fall and got galloped over by a couple of horses coming from behind me. That's the ups and downs of racing and I'm gutted to be missing the whole of the Christmas period with so many of our good horses set to run."
Footpad in the Ladbrokes King George VI Chase and Fusil Raffles in the Christmas Hurdle are two of Simon Munir and Isaac Souede's stars in action over the festive period.
