MISSION OF HOPE can make it second time lucky in the maiden special weight carded as race six over an extended one mile on Gulfstream’s synthetic track.
Christophe Clement’s charge took some money and ran to a big figure when hitting the board on debut. It was a solid effort in which she passed a few in the stretch after racing in last for most of the way.
I anticipate she’ll take a good step forward from that for a barn who are always worth another look with their second starters.
One horse I put forward that was scratched a few weeks ago is back in today and I don’t see any reason not to stick by her.
That was Bob Baffert’s SHOW CARD and she goes today in an allowance optional claimer over six furlongs on Santa Anita’s main track.
She’s had just three runs, improving considerably each time on the speedfigures I use. The Juddmonte home-bred earned her diploma last out in good style in a maiden special weight by 3½ lengths from Ms Bo J.
