1350 Bombay Sapphire Glorious Stakes

Martyn Meade - Eminent: "I think his last run proved he can't compete over a mile at that level, so we're going to try him over a mile and a half and see what happens."

Alan King - Top Tug: "I just felt he is going to be virtually top weight in any handicap and there could be something lurking, so we thought we would have a crack at this. A smaller field might suit and he does like this place, as he run very well round here, so we are hopeful of a good run. Coming back to a mile and a half will be fine for him."

Man On The Spot verdict:

Sir Michael Stoute has won this for the past two years and the yard can do little wrong at present so MIRAGE DANCER, who hasn't had much racing for his age and has won at Listed level around here, gets the nod after just failing to overhaul Best Solution in a Group 2 at Newmarket. Red Verdon ran a superb race when runner-up to Stoute's Crystal Ocean in the Hardwicke and would have to be a threat on that form while Eminent, last year's Derby fourth, showed signs of a revival last time and won a Group 2 at Deauville around this time a year ago. Second Step finished runner-up in this last year behind Poet's Voice and has won twice subsequently while none of the remainder can be completely dismissed in a competitive renewal.

1425 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes

Mark Johnston - Threading: "It is a nice race for her. She ran well at Ascot, but because she has been a bit in and out that is why we've dropped in class, to get her confidence back a bit She is great, but she has always been great at home."

William Jarvis - Chief Ironside: "He's stepping up in grade a fair bit but is a horse we like a lot and have a lot of faith in. He's been keen in front so I don't see coming back in trip being an issue, more the step up in class, so we'll see how he gets on."

Man On The Spot verdict:

Threeandfourpence had been racing at the highest level before a confidence-booster at Naas last week and has a fair chance of a quick double. Regal Reality, a maiden winner at Yarmouth on soft ground, was in need of the run in a Sandown Listed contest at Sandown in May and will know more here but this can go to the progressive OSTILLO. He had just over a length to spare when beating Curiosity in the Britannia Handicap at Ascot and can confirm the form on 3lb worse terms. Threading easily landed a Listed contest at York before runner-up to Alpha Centauri in the Coronation Stakes and something must have been amiss when she was beaten a long way behind that winner in the Falmouth. Glorious Journey, unbeaten as a two-year-old, finished a very close third in a Group 3 in France in May in-between two disappointing runs.

1535 King George Qatar Stakes

Angus Gold - Battaash: "The impression I'm getting is that Charlie is happier with him than he's been in a while. I hope he's right. I don't think he was at his best at Ascot, personally. I know he went hard, but he got very tired and he's gone hard before and picked up again. I've seen him look better than he did before Ascot, Charlie seems much happier with him now and he's back at the scene at the crime, so to speak. He's got plenty of speed and if he's back to his best, he's going to take a bit of beating."

Angus Gold - Muthmir: "William has felt for a while a pair of blinkers might help him. He's worn cheekpieces and had the hood on in the stalls and things like that. I wouldn't say he's been unlucky, but he's missed the break once or twice recently and things just haven't gone totally right for him. He's a fast-ground horse. He still has plenty of speed for an eight-year-old and I know William is particularly happy with him at the moment. If Battaash is at his best we wouldn't expect him to beat him, but William is hopeful he'll finish in the first three."

Karl Burke - Havana Grey: "It's a tough race and there's certainly plenty of speed in there. It's one of the most competitive renewals of the King George I can remember. There's probably three, four or five horses who could win and hopefully we're one of them. Battaash is going to be very hard to beat, but you should never run scared of one horse and our lad is in great form and I think he'll strip a little bit fitter for the run in Ireland. I would say the start will be the key to the race."

Man On The Spot verdict:

Take Cover has won this twice in recent years but was only fourth a year ago behind the three-year-old Battaash. The winner began this year's campaign by defying a penalty in the Temple Stakes at Haydock before beaten into second by Blue Point in the King's Stand Stakes where he played up before the start and was in a lather. The form of the latter race hasn't really worked out and though he's a long way clear on official ratings a chance is taken here with SIOUX NATION (NAP). Aidan O'Brien has some top sprinters in his yard and this three-year-old is reverting to the minimum after showing excellent pace behind stable companion U S Navy Flag in the July Cup. Another from the younger brigade, Havana Grey, was behind the likely favourite at Haydock but bounced back to form in a Curragh Group 2 and looks certain to go well while Kachy, a close third in the former event, ran well for a long way in the King's Stand.

1640 L'Ormarins Queens Plate Oak Tree Stakes

Charlie Fellowes - Carolinae: "We're in bonus territory with her, having won the Listed race, but I don't think she's a forlorn hope by any means. The form of her Nottingham race the time before could not have worked out any better. There have been a host of black-type winners coming out of that race. She's so tough it's worth letting her take her chance."

Charlie Fellowes - Repercussion: "I just feel Ascot doesn't suit him and it was very quick. He didn't let himself down but he's got a lovely draw here and I've a sneaky feeling he will run really well here. Richard (Kingscote) has won on him before and this is the sort of track you can freewheel on the front end and can be hard to peg back, which is very hard to do at Ascot."

Man On The Spot verdict:

Horses trained in France have won this for the past three years and the lightly-raced SEQUILLA is taken to keep up the sequence. Andre Fabre's filly was having just her third start when beating the useful Zonza at Maisons-Laffitte last month and her trainer wouldn't be sending such an inexperienced filly here unless confident of a big run. Her compatriot Lida has also been successful at Listed level though she's been well beaten when tackling Group 3 company but German raider is a regular in this sort of grade having finished runner-up at Hamburg last time. Aidan O'Brien runs Most Gifted in the absence of Could It Be Love though she looks to have plenty to do but One Master has to be on the shortlist as she won a Listed contest at Ascot last season and showed very good speed over 6f at the Curragh last time. Her stable companion Pretty Baby looks the main threat, however, as she only just failed to catch Raven's Lady in the Group 3 Summer Stakes at York and should have no problems stepping up in trip.
