I've one fancy at Goodwood today and three at Leopardstown but will be giving Galway a miss as nothing really stood out on the card.

At Leopardstown, I'm giving FUNNY LITTLE WAYS a chance in the apprentice race.

She had a bit of a history of starting slowly but put it all together when winning well at Dundalk in February, beating a subsequent winner in Kosman.

She's 13lb higher now but to be fair to her she's not done badly since, at Leopardstown the rider's irons broke so you can put a line through that, then she had a tough draw in stall 11 at Limerick and ran into a well-handicapped horse, who went on to be just beaten off a much higher mark.

She was beaten three lengths by Star Of Cashel at Naas last time when she never really got room to get racing and finished off quite well without being knocked about. That form reads well enough too in the context of this race.

Stall 12 isn't ideal but being an apprentice race you expect the pace to be quite strong and she gets weight for age. Mikey Sheehy taking off 4lb off is a plus and she rates decent each-way value having not had the rub of the green lately.

There are some competitive races throughout and some tricky maidens but I'm drawn to the 10 furlong maiden at 3.35 where Dermot Weld's TIMOURID is fancied at 4/1. He was a fine third to Galileo Chrome on June 12 when the yard possibly wasn't quite firing on all cylinders and then last time tried to chase down Serpentine which doesn't look a bad effort in hindsight.

I like it when Weld puts blinkers on and I'm willing to take the chance that a step up to this 1m4f trip will bring about a little more improvement.

Tom Mullins had a fantastic winner at Galway earlier in the week and could be on the mark here with WYETT EARP in division one of the 1m4f handicap.

He showed his first signs of real promise when seventh at Killarney last time, when denied a clear run and sticking on to be beaten under four lengths at the line.

He's been eased in the weights for that which looks potentially generous and he's a three-year-old getting a good chunk of weight from some older, exposed rivals here. The 20/1 with bet365 is worth taking.

At Goodwood, it's a case of sit back and enjoy Battaash, who you can't really see being beaten as he goes for a fourth victory at the meeting.

Earlier on the card, One Master drops back from Group One level and will be hard to beat over her favoured seven furlong trip. She might not love the conditions, though, and she might need luck in running from stall one so UNDER THE STARS makes plenty of appeal each-eay.

She ran very well in the Moyglare and Rockfel last year and has shown she's trained on this year.

She didn't run at all badly on soft ground in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket last time when a big price after getting up late in a good Haydock race prior to that.

She's more effective on good ground or better and with most firms going four places she looks the one to be on breaking from stall six which is a nice position to come from.
