Fran Berry best bets for Navan on Wednesday

Fran Berry is in fine tipping form at the moment and he has a 16/1 fancy at Navan on Wednesday.

Recommended bets:

0.5pt e.w Keepthebestsideout in 1.30 Navan at 16/1

3pts win Passion in 3.30 Navan at 10/3

KEEPTHEBESTSIDEOUT looks an interesting each-way bet in division one of the Navan Handicap.

She’s only had six career starts to date and her second to subsequent winner Powersville at Sligo last year was a good run. She was then off the track until February but caught he eye on her second run back in a 0-79 at Dundalk last time.

She missed the break and was forced wide on the first bend before making good late headway. She finished ninth but was beaten just over four lengths and drops in grade to a 0-65 here. Fast ground, as we saw at Sligo, suits her and she’s worth chancing at a big price.

PASSION can land the feature Irish Stallion Farms EBF Salsabil Stakes.

She’s a filly I love and I hope she’s going to develop into an Investec Oaks contender, as last year’s winner Pink Dogwood did.

She made a very encouraging debut when fifth behind today’s rival Yaxeni on her Cokr debut and then improved to win back at the same track a few weeks later, beating seven subsequent winners (three of who landed Group Threes).

She then travelled over to Doncaster for the May Hill Stakes only 11 days later but just ran a little green and was checked in her run at the wrong time having hit a flat spot. In the end she was only beaten six-and-a-half lengths and was just behind 1000 Guineas runner-up Cloak Of Spirits.

It looked a warm renewal with subsequent Pretty Polly winner Run Wild in sixth and Passion is a big filly who is entitled to improve from two to three. I think she’s a very exciting prospect and I take her to win what is admittedly a strong renewal of the race.

There’s a fascinating contest for the Heritage Stakes with Mount Everest and Buckhurst both dropping down to a mile against a race-fit and hat-trick seeking rival in San Andreas. His stablemate Sola Luna is a landmark runner in the opener. She’s Joseph O’Brien’s first for Moyglare Stud.

It’s a fascinating card with plenty of well-bred horses in the maidens but Keepthebestsideout and Passion are the bets for me.
