Mighty Blue looks the value in today's Listed event at Naas, according to Fran Berry. He has two bets on the card.
Some good horses in action at Naas today but I've only a couple of Sunday selection.
The 4.15 - the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Bluebell Stakes looks a deep Listed race with a few improvers in there along with some nice older horses.
The last four years the winners have been split 2-2 between older horses and three-year-olds so I'm not going to get too hung up on the weight-for-age which is only 5lb at this stage of the season anyway.
The older brigade may well dominate this time in my view - Barrington Court has been a revelation since switching to the Flat from hurdles, winning and finishing second the last twice. She's run some superb races in defeat lately.
However, at the prices, MIGHTY BLUE is definitely worth a bet. There was only a length between these two when they met at Galway and the ground was extreme so I can excuse the selection.
But the key to her turning the tables is the mile and a half trip. I just think Mighty Blue might have a few more gears at this distance, especially with a good draw in stall one. She was a good winner at the Curragh in handicap company towards the end of August and remains open to quite a bit of improvement for Joseph O'Brien having joined from France.
At 2.30 - the Foran Equine Irish EBF Nursery Handicap represents a great pot for the two-year-olds but it's far from a vintage race. It's actually a consolation event for horses to failed to make it into various Auction races through the season but the top weight is rated just 75.
The one I really like each-way is Jim Bolger's SLAN TAMALL, who goes in first-time cheekpieces on this marked drop back in trip from a mile to six furlongs.
The draw looks good in stall 10 as when it's testing here you generally want to be on the high side and Vocalised's progeny tend to love soft ground so I've no fears over the ground either.
She travelled well to a point at Navan and also a bit of speed at Cork last time - both races at a mile - so I'm hoping sprinting might be her thing, especially from a mark of 72 now sent handicapping.
