Fran Berry Irish racing tips for Sunday's meetings at the Curragh

Fran Berry hit the crossbar with a short-head second at 9/1 on Saturday - don't miss his two fancies for this afternoon's quality Irish racing.

Recommended bets, Sunday July 19

1pt e.w. Orchid Gardens in 2.35 Curragh at 12/1

1pt e.w. Magnanimous in 5.15 Curragh at 6/1

Just the two tips for the Curragh this afternoon as one of my initial fancies on the card, More Beautiful, was taken out this morning.

That's a shame as it's a really glorious summer's morning in Ireland and I was hoping the ground might have dried out sufficiently for a filly well worth forgiving her Royal Ascot run when drawn on the wrong side.

Keep an eye out for her next appearance anyway.

As for the best bets on the card, I'm taking a bit of a flier on ORCHID GAMES in the premier fillies' handicap.

She ran well at Dundalk over the winter in pretty strong company and her first run on grass here the other week was encouraging. She got checked in her run around two furlongs out but ran home quite well and should have learnt a lot from that.

She's officially 5lb out of the handicap in this event but remains open to so much improvement I'm willing to overlook the fact and I can see her finding enough to reverse the form with the winner from the other day, Music To My Ears.

I think the drop to a strongly-run seven furlongs might just suit Mick Halford's filly.

The other one I like the look of is MAGNANIMOUS in the six furlong maiden at 5.15.

She's by first-season sire Mehmas who seems to be living up to the hype a bit more now with She's So Nice and Method nice winners for him in the UK recently, and she looks to be getting the hang of things based on her Limerick second at the end of last month.

The winner there, To Glory, ran better than the bare form in a hot race on his next start while the favourite, Giorgio Vasari, who was fifth, has come out and won a maiden.

There are definitely races to be won with Magnanimous and I'm happy to take on Monaasib who now goes with a tongue-tie.
