1pt e.w. Probe in 4.55 Gowran Park at 13/2 (General 1/5 1,2,3)
2pt win Going In Style in 7.00 Gowran Park at 5/1 (General)
There's a very good card at Gowran Park including two Listed races which I'll be watching with interest.
The first of two selections on the day is PROBE in the mile maiden at 4.55. He's shaped far better than the bare result in two starts so far, shaping nicely in fifth on debut at the Curragh.
He then came to Gowran and ran over a sharper seven furlongs which he coped with quite well. He was quickly away and the rider just elected to take back which may have given up the advantage a bit in hindsight.
Down in a pocket, the pace slackened and he did well to finish fourth given how the race developed from that point.
He could have fared a good deal better with a clear run. He's not exposed and steps up to a mile today with Colin Keane back on board.
Stall 17 is a worry as the track has moved in from yesterday's racing line, but they're racing on fresh ground and Keane won the first at Gowran yesterday from stall 19.
I've maximum respect for the favourite Agrimony, but his price reflects his chance and 13/2 I much prefer Probe.
Another one I'll be sweet on if he's definitely going to run is Noe Meade's GOING IN STYLE in the apprentice handicap at 7.00.
He was a big eyecatcher on last start at Leopardstown where didn't get a run and essentially finished full of running. The form has worked out really well and the soft ground should suit him well.
Stall six and first-time cheekpieces going on look another potential plus. His price has tightened a bit due to the non-runners but that means he's got a run if connections want to - they have have until 11am to declare fully.
