Fran Berry bagged another Dundalk winner on Monday and he's back to preview today's Polytrack action in Ireland.
It was great to see some star names on show at Dundalk on Monday and while Romanised was a shade disappointing in third, I'd say Joseph O'Brien's juvenile winner later on the card, Isle Of Sark, is a name you'll be hearing plenty about in the future.
As for today's it's a relatively mundane winter card and the weather is pretty rotten to be honest.
One I like the most comes in the concluding Crowne Plaza Hotel Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Maiden, a race in which we're mostly dealing with horses who have had plenty of chances.
But STALINGRAD had only run three times and looks the most reliable of the bunch. He goes with a first-time tongue tie on here, having been a well-backed favourite on debut as Limerick in June before running with credit in a Curragh maiden on September 26.
The switch to Polytrack saw him post a creditable second, showing good speed before being no match for Shawaf. But given his breeding, he should take a lot of beating in this sort of company. The general 5/2 looks perfectly fair and he's 11/4 with bet365.
In the second race - division two of the Join Us On Instagram @dundalk_stadium Handicap - I'm going to take a chance on Gordon Elliott's TAKE A TURN.
The key to this one's chances is that he's down a little bit in class here into a 0-65 from a 0-75. He ran well here just nine days ago and is a dual winner on the Flat, as well as being rated 122 over hurdles - a full 60lb higher than his current Flat mark.
He didn't have the gears of the opposition last time but it was a return to form and he's been dropped 3lb. He represents good each-way value in a race in which Punters Poet may well take a bit of beating.
