Jimmy Fortune edging towards comeback from injury

Jimmy Fortune aims to be riding out next week as he hopes to end a frustrating time out through injury.

The 45-year-old Classic-winning jockey has been on the sidelines for the last six weeks after suffering from back spasms.

However, he believes those issues are now under control.

He said: "I had six injections done on Monday and I've got to give them a week to settle down and I'll know more after that. Hopefully they will do the trick.

"I'll start riding out early next week if all goes well and hopefully be back next weekend if everything goes to plan, but I obviously I can't put a date on when I'll be back.

"It has been very frustrating, but equally I don't want to make it any worse.

"It was tough having to miss Royal Ascot, but that's life."
