Samcro: Gordon Elliott's best chance of a weekend winner

Gordon Elliott rates Samcro as his best chance of a winner at the inaugural Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown this weekend.

The unbeaten six-year-old has three options over the course of the high-profile two-day fixture after being given entries in the Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors Novice Hurdle, the Deloitte Novice Hurdle and the BHP Insurance Irish Champion Hurdle.

"We'll have a chat about it tonight and see what happens," the trainer told At The Races. "He's in great form. He had a blow this morning and we're very happy with him. He probably won't run in the Champion Hurdle. He'll run in one of the novices, but I'll have to talk to Michael and Eddie (O'Leary) and see what they want to do."

Samcro is evens with Sky Bet to win any race at the Cheltenham Festival this season, 4/1 for the Sky Bet Supreme and 5/4 for the Ballymore. All three are non-runner/no bet.

He is set to spearhead a formidable team of horses from Elliott's title-chasing yard bound for the Foxrock venue.

He added: "We've got 10 or 11 runners both days. It'll be hard, but we've got a few nice horses to run. Rapid Escape runs (Goffs Future Stars INH Flat Race) and we'll definitely run something else with him. Lisa (O'Neill) will ride Rapid Escape. She rode him this morning and she was very happy. We'll run three or four in the (Flogas) novice chase. I'll run Sutton Place, Dounikos and The Storyteller and maybe Tombstone.

"Farclas has a good chance (Spring Juvenile Hurdle). I've got loads of chances. We've loads of runners and if we can get a couple of winners it'll be great."
