Dutch Connection to drop back in trip to seven furlongs at Haydock

Dutch Connection is set to drop back to seven furlongs following a fine comeback run over a mile in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury last Saturday.

Trainer Charlie Hills is eyeing the Betway John of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock on June 9 next for the six-year-old, before another crack at the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, which he won in 2016.

The Lambourn handler was delighted with Dutch Connection's performance in finishing fourth to Rhododendron on his reappearance, after being slowly out of the stalls.

"He ran a terrific race. He missed the break a little bit, but he travelled so well into it. I just think the mile does stretch him, really," said Hills.

"We always said we will try to win another Lennox Stakes with him, so we will bring him back to seven furlongs next for the John of Gaunt at Haydock."
