Cheltenham Festival news: Daryl Jacob hoping to strike gold with Cheltenham Festival mounts

Top jockey Daryl Jacob runs through his rides on the first two days of the Cheltenham Festival and is looking forward to Nestor Park in the bumper.

On Wednesday things step up a gear for me as I have four rides starting with Gowiththeflow in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle.

He’s another with plenty to find on official ratings but we think he’s a really nice horse and he did it very well at Doncaster last time when making all.

Samcro is obviously a very good horse but he’s not the only one in there and I’m clinging to the hope that the ground will throw up a few upsets over the next few days.

My fellow will love the ground, he jumps well and he stays well which is what you’ll need for this race, so he goes there with an each-way chance.

In the Coral Cup I ride Fixe Le Kap for Nicky Henderson and I’m very much looking forward to getting on him.

After he got beat at Plumpton we decided to pull stumps on his novice chasing campaign and retain his novice status for next year. He’s had a wind operation and a run at Ascot since then so hopefully he’s cherry ripe for this.

He was eighth in the Fred Winter two years ago so he’s got Festival experience. Whatever he does on Wednesday I still think the future is bright for him, he’s only six.

Talking of the Fred Winter, I pick up a nice spare for Dan Skelton in the shape of Embole.

Harry Skelton obviously rides Nube Negra for his brother and he is second favourite, so I have picked up the second string but he looks a nice horse.

He won well at Wincanton last time from a highly-regarded horse of Paul Nicholls’ and it’s great to ride for these owners again as I rode a few winners for them in my time at Ditcheat.

Finally, I ride Nestor Park in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper and the ground has definitely come right for him.

He’s a big price but if I’d ridden him differently he might’ve finished second to Acey Milan at Newbury last month and we think he’ll come on for that run.

At Ascot he won nicely and he stepped up on that run last time, so with conditions to suit he goes there with a chance of hitting the frame.
