Matt Brocklebank picks up the Daily Nap baton on Tuesday and he's heading for the feature handicap hurdle at Huntingdon where Alan King is fancied to strike.

Sporting Life Daily Nap, November 12

The Integral UK Michaelmas Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon might just revolve around recent Wincanton winner Sebastopol, but at the likely prices preference is for GIVING GLANCES further down the weights.

She couldn't land a glove on Sebastopol last month but it was her first run over hurdles since contesting the Adonis won by Fusil Raffles at Kempton in February and, following a nice run on the Flat at Newmarket in early-October as well, she might just be about to reach something like peak fitness.

If that's the case then she looks particularly dangerous in this field.

The filly won twice on the level for King in 2018 and added two hurdle scores to the tally during a slightly in-and-out juvenile campaign last winter, which featured an impressive 16-length success at Hereford and a Listed triumph at Doncaster in January as well as some lesser efforts (albeit in hot company).

She enjoys decent ground and has plenty of natural pace so it makes plenty of sense to get cracking with her this time of year while the going holds and she definitely shaped with promise in fifth at Wincanton, running on late to take fifth having been held up in rear early on.

The official handicapper has dropped her 2lb for that effort, which looks quite generous on the face of it, and when you combine that with a 10lb rise for the reopposing winner, there's no doubt she's entitled to take much closer order on the revised terms.

Her trainer Alan King, whose horses look in reasonable nick now, does so well in the handicap division with these second-season juveniles and Giving Glances looks on a mark from which she can now start to scale greater heights.
