Trainer Colin Tizzard will consider a trip to Cheltenham in November for Finian's Oscar following his successful debut over fences at Chepstow on Saturday.
The dual Grade One-winning hurdler was unsurprisingly prohibitive odds for his chasing bow in the hands of Bryan Cooper.
He took a while to warm to his task, which was made significantly easier when the prolific Alcala slipped up on the home bend, but he ultimately got the job done.
Asked whether Cheltenham's November meeting could be the next port of call, Tizzard said: "It could. There's no reason not to go there, but there's no reason not to go anywhere else either.
"We'll see how he is nearer the time. I haven't really given it a lot of thought."
The Dorset-based trainer is pleased with how his charge has recovered from his exertions, but is in no rush to bring him back to competitive action.
He added: "He's come out of the race absolutely fine. We're very happy with him. It was a bit of a muddling race and then the grey horse slipped, which was a bit unfortunate for them.
"Bryan was happy with him and said he went away when he squeezed him after the last.
"He's had a race and I think we'll wait a month with him now anyway. He's a very good horse and we need him for those races in the spring."
Finian's Oscar was the only winner of the weekend for the Tizzard team, but several horses performed well in defeat, perhaps most notably Vision Des Flos.
The four-year-old set connections back 270,000 euro, having won the Goffs Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown in the spring for Irish trainer Robert Tyner.
He was thrown in at the deep end on his jumping debut in the Persian War Novices' Hurdle at Chepstow on Sunday, but ran a race full of promise to finish third.
"He ran a lovely race," said Tizzard.
"He travelled very well for two miles and then just got a bit tired. You'd like to think he'll shake those up on his next run. He's a gorgeous horse and he's what we were hoping he'd be when we bought him, which isn't always the case."
