Timeforshowcasing, who narrowly missed out in Germany, is set to target Group 1 honours in France next.
Her trainer Charlie Johnston has an exciting few weeks ahead with stable flagbearers Ancient Egypt, Timeforshowcasing and Lazy Griff as the trio tackle big-race targets across the globe.
The Middleham-based trainer has endured his own share of bad luck in the preceding months, with both Ancient Egypt and Timeforshowcasing missing out on Group One glory by the narrowest of margins.
Timeforshowcasing was denied in the Grosser Dallmayre-Preis Bayerisches Zuchtrennan at Munich, beaten a nose by Jessica Harrington’s Hotazhell in a photo finish.
Winner of the Group 2 German 1000 Guineas earlier in the season, the daughter of Showcasing could head to France for her next assignment.
“I didn’t think it was possible to get any closer to winning a Group One without actually winning one, then ten days later, we managed to do exactly that!” added Johnston. “The more I watched the replay, the more I thought she’d won.
“She will probably go for the Group One Prix Jean Romanet. Timeforshowcasing prefers a bit of give in the ground and France would rarely get as quick as it would at home.
"It looks the right race on paper and if for any reason she didn’t end up going there, the Blandford Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend is a possible with the Prix de l’Opera as a likely end-of-season target.”
