Kevin Ryan's Brando fine after Sprint Cup reverse

Kevin Ryan reports Brando to be "fine" after his disappointing showing in the Sprint Cup at Haydock on Saturday.

The five-year-old son of Pivotal was well fancied for the Group One showpiece on the back of an impressive success in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville, but never figured under jockey Tom Eaves and eventually trailed home in ninth.

Ryan said: "He's fine. He was great coming into the race but for whatever reason he just didn't turn up on Saturday.

"He had a bad experience at that course a few years ago when he won a handicap there, he burst a blood vessel, whether that was the case, he just didn't seem himself.

"He's home safe and sound and that's the main thing."
