Billesden Brook returns to action at Newmarket on Sunday

Last year's QIPCO 1000 Guineas winner Billesdon Brook returns to action in the Charm Spirit Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket.

Without a win since her surprise Classic success, Billesdon Brook nevertheless ran with credit in races such as Royal Ascot's Coronation Stakes, the Nassau at Goodwood and the Sun Chariot here.

Richard Hannon's filly has no penalty to carry on Sunday but she faces a stern rival in the shape of Sir Michael Stoute's Veracious, third in the Coronation and the Nassau before winning a Group Three.

Mark Johnston's Nyaleti ran a series of good races at three, several of them abroad - while David Lanigan's Worth Waiting looks a filly with more to offer this term, having finished fourth in the Prix Vermeille when last seen.

The Tweenhills Pretty Polly Stakes has attracted a field of seven.

This event has been used as a stepping stone to glory by the likes of Talent, Taghrooda and Lah Ti Dar in recent years - and Charlie Hills will be hoping his once-raced Clematis can achieve something similar after her impressive debut at Kempton.

William Haggas' Maqsad looked a filly with a future when winning at the Craven meeting - while John Gosden is represented by Shambolic, fourth in the Fillies' Mile.

Aidan O'Brien runs Mona Lisa's Smile, with I'll Have Another and Lady Adelaide also in the mix.

Royal Ascot winner Baghdad is among a field of 10 for the Qatar Racing Handicap, and Gifted Master heads the field in the Longholes Handicap.
