There are several runners that tick plenty of boxes, but only one who matches all six highlighted trends and that is WESTERN RYDER, who bids to become the third successive Greatwood winner to hail from the previous season’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

A course winner last December, he mixed it with the best novices in the spring and he bids to become the eighth winning second-season hurdler in nine years.

Other second-season hurdlers to consider are Nube Negra, who finished third in the Fred Winter in March, and Scottish Champion Hurdle winner Midnight Shadow, who travelled well on his return to action at Wetherby recently, although he lacks any course experience.

Charli Parcs is another who scored well on the trends.

Bettrends verdict:

1. WESTERN RYDER

2. Nube Negra
