Best bets from Timeform analysts for Saturday at the Curragh, Killarney and Redcar

It's been a good week at York for our Timeform bankers team thanks to Henley On Thames, Sun Goddess and Al Nayyir, and they have three for the away tracks on Saturday.

EAUL TAPA - 14:00 Killarney (James Davies)

Most eyes will be on York, and the Ebor especially, but that’s not to say there won’t be betting opportunities elsewhere, with Eaul Tapa catching the eye in the second division of the extended 2m maiden hurdle at Killarney. He picked up strikingly well to power clear late in a Ballinrobe bumper last month and, while it’s true that form has taken a couple of knocks since and he’s up against a couple of ex-Flat horses who may be better suited by the sharp nature of Killarney, he looks to possess enough class to overcome those concerns.

CARMERS - 16.35 The Curragh (Billy Nash)

As soon as Carmers name appeared in the declarations for the Irish St Leger trial it was pretty obvious that he wasn't going to take up his engagement in the Lonsdale and that decision can pay dividends. He ran well for a long way in the Ascot Gold Cup and a repeat of that form should be good enough back in calmer waters. It seems significant that Dylan Browne McMonagle has elected to ride Kizlyar rather than last year's winner Leinster but he needs to find plenty of improvement to trouble an on-song Carmers.

QUEEN TAMARA – 17:25 Redcar (Pat Jupp)

In a race where most don’t have any secrets from the handicapper Queen Tamara brings a different profile to the table. She beat a now-useful rival when getting off the mark at Chepstow as a 2-y-o and then ran a cracker on her final start that year, going down narrowly in a class 2 nursery at Newmarket, form which has also been boosted by those around her that day.

She didn’t pull up any trees on her first 2 starts this year, but they came in warm races at Ascot and Goodwood and her yard wasn’t firing on all cylinders at that point – they’re going a lot better now – while she takes an appreciable drop in grade up against her elders for the first time. Queen Tamara was keen on her first try at a mile but is bred to stay at least this far so I don’t expect that to be a problem, and she’ll take plenty of beating.
