Monday's best bets and Sky Bet's popular punts for football, horse racing and tennis

We bring you Sky Bet's most popular punts and the pick of our fancies for today's sporting action including football, racing and greyhounds.

Most popular punts

Horse racing - Boogey Wonderland, 4.15 Thirsk

Simon Dixon saddles the Paco Bay filly Boogey Wonderland on her second career start and she has been very well backed this morning to outrun her odds. She looked green and badly in need of the experience when beaten 7 lengths on debut at Windsor, but she was slow away and not given a hard times of thing. She should have learned plenty for the experience, so with David Allan taking over in the saddle, she looks capable of improving. She was as big as 50/1 last night but she’s now 16/1 and looks to be more prepared today then on debut.

Football - Rooney and Aguero both to score

With both men already off the mark this season, tonight's Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero Sky Bet 9/1 Price Boost is proving popular with punters ahead of the clash at the Etihad. The Toffees are as big as 10/1 to upset Pep Guardiola's men with City 2/7.

Our best bets

David John - Everton (+2) to beat Man City

"The home side retain the ability to make any bet against them look very silly with David Silva and Sergio Aguero in good nick at the Amex Stadium but my word, they are extremely short in the betting for this match. Everton are as big as 11/1 but should not be dismissed quite so readily. The defence has not conceded a goal as they begin to gel while Jordan Pickford behind them is a very special talent indeed."

Ben Linfoot - African Friend, 3.45 Thirsk

Trainer Henry Candy
Trainer Henry Candy

"The Henry Candy-trained sprinter makes his handicap debut off a lowly mark of 77 and it looks a lenient one judging by how his latest Windsor maiden win has worked out. He beat Indian Raj a neck last time and that horse has won twice since including a handicap off a mark of 76 just 10 days ago. The pair were four lengths clear of Kings Academy, a horse that won his sole subsequent start with authority off a mark of 63 at Leicester. And back in fifth behind African Friend at Windsor was Hollander, a horse that went back to the same track and won a handicap off a mark of 70 two weeks ago. It all suggests African Friend could be thrown in, and from a plum draw in 19 he's taken to land the spoils."

Murt Khan - Notnowsam, 7.00 Hexham

"The horse who caught my eye two starts back was Notnowsam. I like the fact he's running over 2m 4f on decent ground today and he has continued to drop down the weights and runs off an all time low of 79. The 14/1 generally available each-way in a dead eight-runner race looks worth a small play."

Richard Wilson - Droopys Gold (T5), 7.52 Nottingham

"It was hard not to be impressed with Droopys Gold (T5) all-the-way win here in the heats seven days ago and Seamus Cahill's dream season can continue with this September '15 whelp at 7.52. A drop back to 500m posed no concerns for the son of Loughteen Blanco, who boasts plenty of pace from the off and could prove very hard to catch if allowed to trap well in the orange jacket. A sub-30 second time around this venue is no mean feat (calculated 29.96) last week and a repeat would be more than enough to navigate his way through to next week's final."

Andy Schooler - Yuichi Sugita in Winston-Salem Open

Yuichi Sugita
Yuichi Sugita

"Having earned direct entry into the recent Masters tournaments in Montreal and Cincinnati, he pushed David Goffin to 6-4 in the third at the former before making the quarter-finals at the latter where he defeated both Jack Sock and Karen Khachanov before losing to eventual champion Grigor Dimitrov. He looks well drawn here with Paolo Lorenzi due to be first his seeded foe – little to fear there – and Bautista Agut slated to follow in the last eight. At 28/1 each-way Sugita is my best bet this week."
