We round up our best bets for today's sporting action and highlight some of Sky Bet's best-backed selections.

Popular punts

Racing: Abamanova to win 6.15 Bellewstown

The maiden in which Abamanova finished third on debut looked a strong one at the time, and punters are backing up that suspicion by punting her at Bellewstown. The yard enjoyed a high-profile winner on Sunday and can again make a mark against the likes of Ger Lyons and Joseph O’Brien, whose runners here are more exposed and don’t set the bar particularly high. From odds-against this morning, Abamanova is into 5/6 (Price Boosted from 8/11) and it’ll be a surprise if she isn’t good enough to get off the mark.

Football: Demarai Gray to join Crystal Palace

A morning dominated by transfer activity as we enter the penultimate day of the window where Demarai Gray has drifted to remain at the King Power. The England U21 international was 8/15 overnight to stay with the Foxes but rumours of a mooted swap deal to Palace involving Andros Townsend going the other way surfaced and Gray is now 13/8 to stay put and 9/2 from 7/1 for a move to South London. However, Spurs also appear to be in the chase - they are the even-money favourites to sign the player.

Danny Drinkwater - Chelsea bound?

Football: Danny Drinkwater to join Chelsea

It is understood Danny Drinkwater has handed in a transfer request and that's prompted his odds to join Chelsea to be slashed to 1/7. The England midfielder is out to 4/1 to stay with the 2015/16 Premier League champions.

Rugby league: Leeds to beat Hull

With Hull only just getting over their Challenge Cup final celebrations, it's probably comes as no surprise to see their opponents on Thursday being well backed. The quick turnaround is a big ask for the visitors after a such a big game, while Leeds had last weekend off. Weight of money since yesterday's team news has seen the handicap line moved from -4 to -8.

Our best bets

Ben Linfoot: Sterling Silva to win 6.25 Kempton

"Trainer Richard Hannon (pictured above) switches the blinkers tried last time for cheekpieces in a bid to spark something positive and Sean Levey has selected him over the stablemate so there’s more than enough to warrant a bet on his all-weather debut, especially given his half-brother Sacha Park was so effective on the surface."

Murt Khan: Turn Turk to win 7.35 Worcester

"For me, Turn Turk is that one that potentially could be a lot better than her mark. She started off her life in a professional manner here in a bumper when rallying to win, followed by a solid run on softer ground at Warwick."

Ben Coley: Thomas Pieters to win the Czech Masters

Thomas Pieters
Thomas Pieters

"Considering that Pieters went off a shorter price last week and now faces a largely similar field, in which his chief rival - fellow course specialist Matthew Fitzpatrick - is in a slump which dates back to May, I think Pieters is highly likely to step up and contend as he's done in both starts here. As such there's no hesitation in getting him on-side."

Andy Schooler: Denis Shapovalov to beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at 2/1

This could easily have fallen into the ‘outsider’ category but I’m keen enough on the Canadian at this price to put him up as my best bet of the day.

The teenager, who looks to have a big future towards the top of the game, is full of confidence right now following his semi-final run in Montreal where he beat current world number one Rafael Nadal. He was forced to qualify for the main draw in New York but did so with honours and then easily negotiated a tricky first-round contest by beating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.

Tsonga, on the other hand, is scratching around for form. He arrived in New York without a match win to his name during the summer hardcourt season having lost to Sam Querrey in Montreal and Ivo Karlovic in Cincinnati. They were defeats to decent opponents but he’s facing another one in Shapovalov now and I’m not reading too much into a facile first-round victory for the Frenchman.

Shapovalov looks the real deal and can prove it again with a win at a good price here.

Chris Oliver: Castell Henry T5, to win 9.08 Romford

"Phil Simmonds' charge has made all in both heat and semi-final and, winner of the British Bred Sprint at Henlow, he could take some beating to the corner again. He has really taken to this track and trip, over which he is four from four, and could take some reeling in again, especially if conditions are on the fast side."
