Weekend Winners: Round-up of winning selections and big payouts

Norwich went top of our Christmas card list after bagging a 7/1 winner for the Sporting Life Accumulator, while one Sky Bet punter turned £1.59 into over £30,000.

First, the Accumulator, which missed out due to a stoppage-time goal last weekend and looked set to provide further heartache when Norwich surrendered a two-goal lead at home to Bolton.

But commeth the hour, commeth Teemu Pukki, who ought to be given the freedom of Helskini after thrashing one into the top corner in the single biggest goodwill gesture since an angel warned Joseph that King Herod was out to get his little boy.

While events at Carrow Road were roundly cheered at Sporting Life HQ, we had nothing on celebrations in Wigan where Gary performed his own miracle in carving open the football coupon.

No win since August? No problem, said Gary, who put his faith in Chesterfield and was rewarded as the Spireites saw off Salford in the National League.

Trailing 1-0 in stoppage time and only 10 men on the pitch? Pah! It's no hardship for Forest Green, who conjured a remarkable turnaround in Somerset. Gary knew.

Alfie Rutherford of Havant and Waterlooville also came to his rescue by scoring a 93rd-minute winner in a 2-1 victory over Braintree. Of course he did.

And then there was Pukki and his now famous strike which, as well as helping complete the Sporting Life Acca, rounded off a remarkable, 19,000/1 punt which saw a mere 159 pennies turned into over 30,000 pounds.

For his next trick, Gary will presumably try turning water into wine, which will be flowing long into the night on the banks of the River Douglas.

Best of the rest...

One Sky Bet punter had the weather to thank as Accrington's match with Sunderland was abandoned with the score 1-1.

With seven other selections in a £40 eight-fold winning, Sunderland were set to let the wager down but a void match on the coupon meant for a return of £7,415.31.

Meanwhile, Sporting Life racing journalist Matt Brocklebank engineered a sensational run of winning naps from Thursday to Sunday, including 10/1 shot Walk In The Mill in Saturday's big race at Aintree.

Matt had in fact advised Robert Walford's horse in both our Saturday best bets feature and accompanying podcast, and those alert to his wise words could've availed themselves of prices around the 20/1 mark.

Last Saturday, his Antepost Angle selection Sizing Tennessee won the Ladbrokes Trophy, a second big-priced winner for that column already this National Hunt season, so make sure you keep an eye out for more top-class advice.

Matt wasn't the only one siding with Walk In The Mill, one of three winners for Oli Bell's new best bets piece, while there were also each-way returns for followers of Ben Coley's golf selections in South Africa before his QBE Classic tips did the business at 16/1.

Sporting Life snooker expert Richard Mann was toasting Ronnie O'Sullivan's record UK Championship win on Sunday after he rewarded Antepost Angle readers with a 4/1 winner.

Richard has been keen O'Sullivan chances in York for a number of weeks now and barely had a moments worry as The Rocket breezed the tournament before thumping Mark Allen in the final.
