2pt double Katter v Ige over 3.5 rounds & McCann to win at 11/4

The second card of Fight Island is upon us and is topped off with what looks to be an incredibly fun main event to watch as Calvin Kattar takes on Dan Ige in a featherweight contest.

British fans should especially look forward to this event, with several home fighters on the card, including former Cage Warriors champions Molly McCann, Modestas Bukauskas, Chris Fishgold and Jack Shore, with John Phillips and Lerone Murphy also representing the UK.

Calvin Kattar v Dan Ige is going to be an incredible fight, with both men boasting some incredible striking, but trying to pick a winner isn't easy despite the former being a 1/3 shot.

Both are very tough and durable, and their styles pitted against each other will result in an amazing fight, but I struggled to give either fighter the nod at the prices, with Ige not quite big enough to risk at 5/2.

What's clear is that both men have incredible cardio and will have no issue with the fight going the distance, and with this fight being five rounds, backing over 3.5 rounds looks worthwhile.

Kattar has gone the distance 11 times in 25 professional fights, while Ige has had 50% of his pro fights go the distance as well.

Ige’s last fight came against Edson Barnoza, a man who has stopped opponents with leg and body kicks in the past, while Kattar has gone the distance with the likes of Zabit Magomedsharipov and Andre Fili.

At around evens that looks the bet, and I'll double it with Molly McCann to win at a combined 11/4.

McCann is one of the UK’s best fighters, male or female, and she will be looking to make her mark at Fight Island in a big main-card clash with Taila Santos.

'Meatball' is 10-2 as a pro, with four wins by knockout, and while she has no pro wins by submission, she is no slouch in the grappling, especially given she trains with gifted grapplers Paddy Pimblett and Chris Fishgold among others at Next Generation MMA in Liverpool.

Santos will also have to deal with McCann’s cardio and the fact she seems to relish fights going longer, as her three straight decision wins show, which won’t be an easy task.

This is only Santos’ second UFC appearance, and it comes over a year after her last fight, so it will be interesting to see how she has improved and whether she has used the time out to prepare herself effectively for this fight.

A win for McCann will put her in contention for a top 10 ranking in the women’s flyweight division and she's fancied to do just that.
