Zara Tindall finishes third at the Rolex Kentucky

Zara Tindall produced an impressive display to finish third at the Rolex Kentucky four-star event in America.

Tindall, riding her London 2012 silver medal-winning horse High Kingdom, delivered her best result at eventing elite's level for almost four years.

The 35-year-old former world champion finished on her dressage score of 46.6 penalties, delivering an outstanding showjumping clear round 24 hours after finishing clear inside the cross-country optimum time.

The Queen's granddaughter, Tindall was just two penalties behind Frenchman Maxime Livio, aboard Qalao Des Mers, while Germany's double Olympic champion Michael Jung completed a hat-trick of Kentucky titles.

World number one Jung, who defends his Mitsubishi Motors Badminton crown in Gloucestershire next week, posted a final score of 42.7.penalties aboard Fischerrocana FST.

Tindall, whose horse suffered an injury before dressage in Kentucky two years ago and could not compete, won just over £30,000.

The result is certain to attract the attention of new Great Britain performance coach Chris Bartle, whose principal target this year is the European Championships in Poland during August.
