The New York Islanders scored three goals in the third period but could not complete the comeback as they lost 7-6 to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Lightning were 3-1 up after 20 minutes and then fired four goals in the second, including two from JT Miller.
A brace from Anthony Beauvillier in 75 third-period seconds brought the Islanders to within a goal, but the playoff-bound Lightning held out for the win.

Carolina's Cam Ward was behind the net as he went to play the puck and did not notice it had got lodged in his right skate.
Ward returned to the net and crossed the line - and the goal was awarded to Alex Goligoski following a video review.
Anze Kopitar scored four goals - the fifth player to strike four times in a game this season - in the LA Kings dominating 7-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

The Edmonton Oilers were slick as they beat the Ottawa Senators 6-2 and Detroit Red Wings are officially out of the playoffs after losing to the Washington Capitals 1-0.
The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Nashville Predators 5-2, while fellow Canadians the Vancouver Canucks also recorded the same scoreline against the Chicago Blackhawks.
