Charlotte Dujardin to miss European Dressage Championships

Charlotte Dujardin will not feature for Great Britain in next month's FEI European Dressage Championships.

The 32-year-old is not one of British Dressage's seven nominated entries for the event, which takes place in Sweden from August 21-27.

Dujardin's absence from the team is not a surprise, as her triple Olympic gold medal-winning horse Valegro was retired in December.

However, several eye-catching prospects mean she is expected to be back in action at next year's World Championships.

Carl Hester and Spencer Wilton, who were in the silver medal winning team at last year's Rio Olympics, are expected to spearhead the British challenge in Gothenburg.

Lara Butler, Michael Eilberg, Emile Faurie, Gareth Hughes and Hayley Watson-Greaves are the other riders on the nominated entries list, from which the team will be chosen.
