Irishman Sam Bennett claimed stage one victory as the Tour of Turkey got under way on Tuesday.

Bennett avoided being caught up in a crash in the final couple of kilometres that involved a number of riders and, aided by his Bora-Hansgrohe team-mate Shane Archbold, timed his sprint finish to perfection.

Italian Marco Benfatto (Androni-Sidermec-Bottecchia) was second, with Belgium's Edward Theuns (Trek-Segafredo) third.

The 176.7km stage from Alanya to Kemer was the first of six. Wednesday's is 206km and runs from Kumluca to Fethiye.
