Jordan Reed says the Washington Redskins must bring back Kirk Cousins, DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon.
The trio are all heading towards free agency and explosive tight-end Reed believes his side need to prioritise a return for the vital parts of the Redskins' offence, beginning with quarterback Cousins.
"I think first of all, we got to bring Kirk back," Reed told SiriusXM NFL Radio. "We got to bring Kirk back. We got to bring two of our most valuable weapons back - Pierre and [Jackson] - for us to have a shot.
"So, I think we need to bring those guys back and add a couple more pieces on defence, and I think we'll be right where we need to be."
The Redskins may opt to franchise tag Cousins, binding him to the team for a year if certain conditions are met, otherwise needing to tie him down to a long-term deal.
"He's real locked in, and he's vocal," Reed said, when reaffirming Cousins' importance. "He communicates well. He's clear about what he wants to be done out there and lets us know.
"On the practice field, he's locked in and he's very competitive. That fuels all of us to be that same kind of competitor and compete to the end."
Although Cousins looks unlikely to leave, receivers Jackson and Garcon are expected to depart with suitors waiting to offer them more lucrative deals.
