Back-up quarterbacks impressed in week two of pre-season with New England Patriots rookie Jarrett Stidham pressing his claim to be Tom Brady's understudy.
Veteran back-up Brian Hoyer is still the main support for Tom Brady, but rookie Jarrett Stidham is making a case to be Brady’s number two after a second impressive impact – this time steering a 99-yard touchdown drive, finished off with a fine 23-yard scoring pass.
Jacoby Brissett is technically a back-up at the Indianapolis Colts, but he seems more than likely to start the season at quarterback with Andrew Luck’s confusing and worrying injury, which has been described as everything from a calf strain to an ankle sprain to a bone bruise.
Brissett, though, played the entire 2017 season hen Luck was also out injured so has the experience and showed on a 12-yard TD pass to Eric Ebron to cap an 85-yard drive that he is more than a capable stand-in.
Christian Wade is at it again! Looks like he's played #NFL all his life, must be making this @buffalobills team this season...@ChristianWade3pic.twitter.com/KF3k3XcOlH

That man Christian Wade was at it again for the Buffalo Bills with the play of the game against Carolina Panthers - the former rugby union star breaking four tackles during a 48-year run that ended just before the endzone.
''Awesome,'' said Bills coach Sean McDermott about Wade's play. ''I could feel the sideline like a tidal wave about to come over me.''
The 28-year-old Wade is a long shot to make the Bills - he's seventh on the depth chart - but is hoping to defy the odds after scoring 82 tries in premiership rugby, the top division in England.
Patrick Mahomes and his all-powerful Kansas City Chiefs offence made their pre-season bow together but could get nothing from Pittsburgh’s stingy starting defence – could they be a unit to watch this season?
The San Francisco 49ers are delighted to see quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo back on the field after his lengthy injury, even though he just eased himself back in with one completion from six attempts.
The Oakland Raiders were the top scorers in week two of pre-season with their 33-26 win over the Arizona Cardinals, with quarterback Mike Glennon throwing two scores for John Gruden’s side.
