Buffalo have signed veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin

The Buffalo Bills have signed veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin on a one-year deal.

Buffalo have been on the look out for wide-out reinforcements having missed out to Baltimore on Jeremy Maclin, and Boldin joins Sammy Watkins and rookie Zay Jones as options for returning QB Tyrod Taylor.

The 36-year-old, who turns 37 in October, confirmed the news in a tweet that he will begin preparations for a 15th season in the NFL, joining his fifth team since being drafted by Arizona with the 54th overall pick of the 2003 Draft.

Buffalo are currently 150/1 chances to win the Super Bowl at Sky Bet and 16/1 to come out on top in the AFC East.

After six years with the Cardinals, Boldin joined Baltimore in 2010 where he scored the opening touchdown in the Ravens 34-31 Super Bowl success over San Francisco, before subsequent spells with the 49ers and the Detroit Lions last year.

Bills General Manager Brandon Beane believes he brings a lot more than on-field talent as the Bills look to end the longest current run in the NFL without a play-off spot - they last featured in the post-season in 1999.

"You're talking about a [Walter Payton] Man of the Year and he's ninth all-time on the receiving list," Beane told the Bills official website.

"I think our receiving room is fairly young still. Not only is he going to help those guys show what it takes on the field, in the meeting rooms, in the training room, how to eat right. I mean, you name it, he's done it.

"My job is to win now and to win in the future. Anquan is a move for now, but he's also a move for the future in the sense that this guy can show what it takes.

"He's been there - Super Bowls, I believe he's an easy Hall of Famer. All that stuff he brings not only helps the 2017 team but '18, '19 and so on."
