Day four report

Sebastian Munoz held his nerve to edge a tense play-off against Im Sung-jae at the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi.

Overnight leader Munoz looked to have blown his chance of a maiden victory during a jittery final round before calmly sinking a birdie on the 18th to draw level with Im at the top of the leaderboard on 18-under-par and force an additional hole.

The 26-year-old Colombian, who began the day with a one-shot lead over Mexico's Carlos Ortiz and registered a two-under 70 in the final round, made the most of the extra opportunity by winning the replayed 18th hole against his South Korean rival.

Sunday's thrilling climax at the Country Club of Jackson was the first play-off in 39 PGA events.

Im, 21, had looked set to register the first Tour win of his career after carding an impressive six-under final-round 66, including eight birdies, to pile the pressure on Munoz.

Fellow South Korean Byeong Hun An, who led after round two, claimed third place, finishing one stroke behind the top two.

Day three report

Colombia's Sebastian Munoz stormed to a third-round 63 to take over at the top of the leaderboard in the Sanderson Farms Championship.

Munoz came up one shot shy of the course record at the Country Club of Jackson, but a blemish-free round which featured nine birdies means he'll have an excellent chance to gain a first PGA Tour win on Sunday.

Should he do so, it would be back-to-back wins for the South American contingent to begin the new season, with his good friend Joaquin Niemann having taken the title in West Virginia a week ago.

Carlos Ortiz is also a regular practice partner of both, and he'll again play with Munoz on Sunday after an excellent 65 of his own to move into second ahead of Byeong Hun An.

The latter bogeyed the eighth and 16th holes, both after errant drives, and then sloppily dropped a shot despite a booming drive at the 17th to fall two adrift of the new pace-setter.

Australia's Cameron Percy is alone in fourth, with An's compatriot and fellow Presidents Cup hopeful Sungjae Im among those lurking should the final groups falter.

Harris English - a two-time winner and therefore among the most decorated players in the mix - starts the final round four shots back along with Im after missing a five-foot birdie putt on the final hole en route to a round of 68.

Day two report

South Korea's Byeong Hun An completed two rounds of six-under 66 to take a two shot lead after two days of a weather-plagued Sanderson Farms PGA Golf championship in Jackson, Mississippi.

An had to play 25 holes on Friday, after around half the field were forced off the Country Club early on Thursday due to rain.

The former US Amateur champion finished his first round strongly, birdying three of his last seven holes, then birdied the first four holes of his second round.

He followed that with his first bogey of the tournament, before three more birdies in his last 11 holes took him to 12-under overall.

When the weather intervened again - with bad light stopping play with around half the field still on the course - An held a two-stroke lead over a group of four Americans - JT Poston, George McNeill, Scottie Scheffler and Tom Hoge.

Australian Cameron Percy was well poised at 9-under, with Ireland's Seamus Power on 8-under, after both had played 11 holes of their second round.

Day one report

Tom Hoge produced a bogey-free, eight-under-par 64 to lead after a rain-shortened first day of the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi on Thursday.

Hoge, who finished second in the PGA Tour's opening event last week, continued his strong form with a front nine of 31 before coming home in 33 - a monster 46-foot birdie putt on the 18th capping his day in fine style.

He ended as a one-stroke leader over Ireland's Seamus Power, Australia's Cameron Percy and fellow American Robert Streb, with a six-man group sitting two shots further back.

Zac Blair, Zach Johnson, Mark Anderson and Emiliano Grillo carded 67s to be tied for fifth.

Byeong Hun An and JT Poston are also on five under but are yet to finish their opening round after play was called off the for the day with around half the field still on the course.

Hoge's encouraging start to the season comes only weeks after he had to fight to regain his PGA Tour card at the Korn Ferry Tour Finals.
