Day four report

Sung Kang earned his first PGA Tour victory with a final-round 67 at the AT&T Byron Nelson in Dallas.

The 31-year-old, who matched the Trinity Forest course record with a 61 in the second round, had to complete 27 holes on the last day after a severe weather delay hit round three.

He entered the final round with a three-shot lead over Matt Every but a sluggish start saw him even par through the first seven holes before birdies through holes eight to 10 got him back on track.

The hot play continued across the back nine when a 23ft birdie on the par-four 15th - the second of three straight birdies - gave Kang the outright lead.

The South Korean closed out 23 under for the tournament, two shots ahead of Americans Every and Scott Piercy, who ended the tournament completely bogey-free.

In a press conference after the tournament, Kang said the win felt "amazing".

Asked about a telephone conversation with his father in South Korea, where he was heard to say "I did it", he added: My dad gave me a lot of support when I was young and sent me over to the US when I was 15 and gave me a lot of opportunity to learn from good pros.

"It helped me a lot, giving me support."

Speaking of his closest challengers, he added: "These guys are unbelievable. Scott Piercy and Matt, making so many birdies on the front. I was like OK, I'm not even going to care about this anymore. Whatever they do, they do. I was just working on my game."

Masters runner-up Brooks Koepka, who is looking to defend his US PGA Championship later this week, finished fourth at 20 under, while Scotland's Martin Laird ended in a tie for 35th at 10 under.

Day three report

Matt Every will carry a one-shot lead into the final day of the AT&T Byron Nelson after a rain-hit third round was suspended due to darkness.

After a six-hour rain delay, American Every opened his third round with an eagle and had four birdies to reach the turn at six-under 30 and move to 18 under for the tournament before play was called for the day.

Sung Kang, who matched the Trinity Forest course record with a 61 in the second round, was also part of the lead group through nine holes, sitting one shot off the pace after a bogey on the par-three eighth.

Tyler Duncan sits in third on 15 under and will also have 27 holes to complete on Sunday.

The weather did little to dampen Nicholas Lindheim's day, however, with the American within a chance of shooting his own 61. The 34-year-old - at nine under for the day through 15 holes - entered the day in 44th but moved in a tie for seventh.

Scotland's Martin Laird was at one under for the day after 10 holes and dropped into a share of 16th place.

The third round will resume at 7.30am CT (1.30pm BST) on Sunday.

Day two report

Sung Kang moved to the top of the leaderboard after carding a second-round 10-under 61 at the AT&T Byron Nelson in Dallas.

In a blemish-free round, the South Korean hit five straight birdies through holes five to nine to match the Trinity Forest course record and take the lead at 16 under overall, four shots ahead of Matt Every.

American Every rebounded from his lone bogey at the 14th hole with a birdie at the last to card a 65 and share a tie of second place with compatriot Tyler Duncan, who shot a 66.

Duncan hit a single bogey on the par-four 13th - but accidentally struck his wife in the head with the wayward shot.

The 29-year-old, whose round also included six birdies, said he did not know about the incident until after the round, but told the PGA website: "I'm just happy she's not hurt."

Masters runner-up Brooks Koepka followed his opening 65 with a 66 to sit in fourth on 11 under overall, two shots ahead of Scotland's Martin Laird.

Laird, who started the day tied in 22nd, completed the second round without a single bogey to finish in a share of sixth place after 36 holes.

It was a disappointing day for overnight leader Denny McCarthy, however, who had to settle for a round of 77, making one birdie, a double bogey and five bogeys.

Day one report

Masters runner-up Brooks Koepka is two shots off the pace after the first round of the AT&T Byron Nelson - with Denny McCarthy shooting a 63 for top spot.

American McCarthy had a shaky start in Texas and carded a double bogey on the par-four fourth before stringing together four birdies to reach the turn two-under.

He went on to pick up six shots on the back nine to go eight-under and lead by one shot from Tyler Duncan and Tom Hoge.

Koepka, looking to defend his US PGA Championship next week, is among 11 players to have carded a 65.

After a blemish-free first nine holes on the back nine, the American mixed three birdies with two bogeys on his final five holes to finish six-under.

Scotland's Martin Laird is tied for 22nd on four-under, while compatriot Russell Knox is a shot further behind and tied for 36th.
