Day four report

Branden Grace holed a stunning 40-foot putt on the 16th green to claim a home win at the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player.

The South African entered the final round in Sun City three shots behind Scott Jamieson but a closing bogey-free 66 moved him to 11 under and handed him a one-shot victory over the Scot, who signed for a 70.

Frenchman Victor Dubuisson also recorded a 70 to finish at nine under as the three playing partners produced a dramatic finish to the seventh Rolex Series event of the season on the European Tour.

Dubuisson was tipped each-way at 45/1 by our golf expert Ben Coley to secure a profit from the tournament.

Grace took advantage of the par five second and hit excellent approaches to birdie the fifth and sixth but was a shot behind Dubuisson at the turn.

The 29-year-old continued to make the most of the par fives and gains on the 10th and 14th put him in a three-way tie at the top before he made that crucial putt to take the title and complete a momentous week when he also found out his wife was having a baby boy.

"It's a dream come true to win at Sun City and to win Africa's major," he said at the trophy presentation.

"It's a very special week, we found out on Wednesday we're having a boy.

"I had to stay patient and I had to take the chances when they came my way. I missed a couple of short ones but I think the big key was the putt on 16."

China's Haotong Li posted the lowest round of the week with a 64 to finish seven under, a shot ahead of two-time major winner Martin Kaymer and two clear of Englishman Lee Westwood and South African Darren Fichardt.

Matthew Fitzpatrick was at four under, a shot ahead of two more Englishmen in Tommy Fleetwood and Graeme Storm.

A win this week would have seen Fleetwood take the Race to Dubai title and he now heads to the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai with an extended lead at the top of the standings and the knowledge that only countryman Justin Rose and Masters champion Sergio Garcia can catch him.

Day three report

Scott Jamieson fired a sublime third-round 67 to take the lead in the Nedbank Golf Challenge, but our 45/1 tip Victor Dubuisson is hot on his heels.

On a day of improved scoring conditions at Sun City, Jamieson carded five birdies in a blemish-free round bettered by only one player in the field to move to eight-under-par, a shot clear of Dubuisson, who had led by two at halfway.

The Frenchman made bogeys at the third, eighth and 11th holes, but four birdies and a solid finish saw him keep tabs on Jamieson, who will be seeking his second European Tour title, the first having also come in South Africa almost five years ago.

Sky Bet give the edge to Dubuisson, their 5/2 favourite, with Jamieson priced up at 3/1.

"It's exciting," the Scot told the European Tour's official website. "I'm in a good position, tomorrow will be a new challenge. Still an awful long way to go but if I can obviously do what I did today, I'll be in with a good shout.

"It would be the biggest moment of my career, I'll be well aware of that tomorrow. I've got to see if I can step up to the challenge."

Home favourite Branden Grace again produced back-nine fireworks, including a chip-in birdie at the 15th hole, but a bogey at the last saw him fall to five-under, three adrift, and tied with Martin Kaymer in third place.

The round of the day belonged to Francesco Molinari, whose flawless 65 saw him climb from outside the top 40 to a share of fifth alongside Haydn Porteous, who made five birdies and an eagle as he matched Jamieson's 67.

Race To Dubai leader Tommy Fleetwood also made inroads, a birdie at the par-five ninth, his final hole, putting the seal on a five-under-par 67 which saw him move inside the top 10 and ahead of rival Tyrrell Hatton, who endured a nightmare end to round three with bogeys at the final four holes to fall out of contention.

Day two report

Victor Dubuisson - tipped by our Ben Coley at 45/1 prior to the tournament - leads at six-under through 36 holes of the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player.

The Ryder Cup star carded a two-under 70 to reach six under, but his advantage would have been greater had it not been for a bogey at the last after missing the green and then firing his chip 25 feet past the hole.

The Frenchman is now Sky Bet's 4/1 favourite to lift the trophy on Sunday.

Dubuisson's momentum was halted after he birdied the 15th to move three clear when the threat of lightning forced a two-and-a-half-hour suspension.

PRICE BOOST: Lee Westwood or Tyrrell Hatton to win the Nedbank Challenge is now 4/1 from 3/1 with Sky Bet!

By then second-placed South African Darren Fichardt (28/1), who was not even in the field on Thursday morning but got in as a late reserve, and Lee Westwood (9/1) were safely home in the clubhouse on four under after rounds of 69 and 70 respectively.

Windier conditions made scoring more difficult than the opening day with just 12 under-par rounds posted.

Ireland's Shane Lowry (28/1), starting at level par, coped best and was five under through 10 holes only for one dropped shot at 11 to be followed by a triple-bogey eight at the 14th as he eventually finished one under.

That put overnight leader Bernd Wiesberger (66/1) back in front only for the Austrian to leak three shots in two holes early in his round to leave Dubuisson two clear at the top on six under.

Wiesberger failed to recover from that slip and carded a five-over 77 to drop out of contention.

Race to Dubai leader Tommy Fleetwood shot a 74 to slip to three over to leave him with the remotest of chances of clinching the title with a win this week.

Dubuisson's form has not been great with just two top-10 finishes this season.

But this is the time of year when his game seems to start to pick up with two wins at the Turkish Airlines Open, two Nedbank top fives and three top fives at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, in November and December since 2013.

"I just try to play as good as I can each day, day after day. Especially on this course, you've got to have a very solid game to do some good scoring," he told europeantour.com.

"The driver of course here is the key if you want to play well and today I didn't miss many fairways, maybe one or two, and I played very solidly in the wind.

"It's the goal of the week to play Dubai because it's been five years in a row that I've played the Dubai final. Of course I think about it."

Day one report

Bernd Wiesberger fired an opening round of 67 to take a one-shot lead into day two of the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player and he is Sky Bet's 9/1 third favourite to lift the trophy on Sunday.

The Austrian was part of a seven-strong group at the top of the leaderboard heading into the closing stages of day one at Gary Player Country Club, but an approach to four feet on the last saw him break out of the pack and get to five under.

Scotland's Scott Jamieson (50/1) was a shot off the lead after signing for a 68 along with France's Victor Dubuisson (14/1), South African Branden Grace (11/2 favourite) and American Julian Suri (20/1).

Englishman Graeme Storm (66/1) - already a winner in South Africa this season - was then in a group at three under that also contained 2011 Masters winner Charl Schwartzel (16/1), defending champion Alex Noren (8/1 second favourite) and Japan's Hideto Tanihara (40/1).

Wiesberger made the turn in level par, but three birdies in a row from the tenth catapulted him up the leaderboard. He bogeyed the 13th but picked the shot straight back up before chipping in at the 16th and making his closing gain.

PRICE BOOST: Matthew Fitzpatrick or Ross Fisher to win the Nedbank Challenge is now 8/1 from 6/1 with Sky Bet!

"It wasn't easy to be honest," he told Sky Sports Golf. "It was quite breezy, quite steady direction-wise but still the course is quite tricky off the tees. You want to get a lot of fairways to be able to attack the flags and that's quite challenging when there's gusty winds.

"But I played all right. I've not had great success when I was here last time, but I approached it with a neutral mind and I played a lot better than I have the last couple of weeks and putted good. I took a couple of chances so that was nice, to get out there kind of relaxed and just let it happen."

Jamieson had six birdies and two bogeys in his round of 68.

"It was a mixed bag, really," he said . "A few more good ones than bad ones. I didn't play the par-fives particularly well until the ninth hole, our last hole.

"That was nice to make a birdie. You always want to be under on the par-fives here when you can reach most of them."

Storm had a an eagle, four birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey in his round.

Fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood will secure the Race to Dubai title with a win this week but he stumbled to an opening 73 and he is out to 33/1.
