Despite being linked with a move for Carlo Ancelotti, Everton have announced that Duncan Ferguson will remain in temporary charge for Sunday's game at Manchester United.
Ancelotti is suddenly the favourite to replace Marco Silva on a permanent basis after he was sacked by Napoli, but Ferguson will remain in charge for the time being.
Ferguson guided the Toffees to a 3-1 win over Chelsea last weekend after replacing Silva, who was sacked following their 5-2 loss to rivals Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

Former Everton manager David Moyes has been linked with a return to Goodison Park while the club are reportedly keen to hold talks with Ancelotti, but it appears an appointment is not imminent with Ferguson told he will be in charge at Old Trafford.
A club statement said: "Duncan Ferguson will remain as Everton caretaker manager for Sunday's Premier League visit to Manchester United.
"Former striker Ferguson was in charge as the Blues secured a 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Goodison on Saturday.
"Ferguson will again be assisted by coaches John Ebbrell and Francis Jeffers and goalkeeper coach Alan Kelly."
A surprise name on the list, former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez recently told Sky Sports that he would consider the job at Goodison Park in the future, if he was offered it, but for now he will be remaining in China.
