Jadon Sancho will be staying at Borussia Dortmund and not moving to the Premier League during the January transfer window, according to reports in Germany.
The England international was one of the big names expected to be on the move during the winter transfer window, with all the big names being mentioned and Chelsea becoming favourites to sign him.
The 19-year-old’s current contract with Dortmund runs until the end of the 2021/22 season so the Bundesliga side are under no immediate pressure to sell – and there is also release clause in the long-term deal.
All the major clubs in the Premier League (Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham) have been monitoring his situation alongside European giants Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG after he’s become one of the brightest stars on the continent.
Sky in Germany, though, are reporting that Sancho will not be on the move in January, but Dortmund are more likely to accept that Sancho will want to move on in the summer.
With a potential fee of well over £100m being mooted, it’s also rare that such a big deal would be done in January and that is a far more likely proposition once the summer transfer window rolls around.
Sancho will also most likely play in Euro 2020 and anything positive he does there will only add to his value – with Dortmund keen to get the very best deal they can if they have to lose one of their star talents.
