Saturday's football

👍 What a day!

It was a slow burner, but exploded into life late on as league leaders Liverpool extended their advantage to 11 points, but they had to hang on in the end!

Tottenham did what they now do under Jose Mourinho - score early but concede late - as they too had to battle it out for three points, and West Ham earned a long overdue win at Chelsea.

Crystal Palace did their usual damage away from home as they beat Burnley. See how the action unfolded below...

1658: Latest league table

1655: FT Chelsea 0-1 West Ham

The Hammers hang on, just about, for a first win at Stamford Bridge since 2002 for West Ham - and they're celebrating accordingly.

1654: Late chance Bournemouth!

Huge tackle for Spurs as Vertonghen makes a last-ditch intervention as Bournemouth threaten to somehow grab a draw out of this game, Mourinho will not be pleased with this defending.

1653: FT Liverpool 2-1 Brighton

A collective sigh of relief rings around Anfield as the final whistle goes and the league leaders extend their advantage to 11 points despite being given an almighty scare after Alisson was sent off. They'll miss him for the derby, but at least they've got the three points today.

1652: GOAL! Tottenham 3-2 Bournemouth (Wilson 90+6)

Wilson again and this Mourinho Spurs team just loves to give away late goals...

1651: Stoppage time

Liverpool and West Ham hanging on as we go into time added on.

1649: Chelsea close again!

Can they force an equaliser? West Ham keeper David Martin, on his debut, makes a nice save low from a Tomori header from a corner.

1647: Chelsea chance wasted

Pulisic, again, wastes a great chance, just as he did in the first half, and Chelsea still trail in this London derby.

1646: Kicking off at Spurs

Jefferson Lerma gets booked for Bournemouth, nothing unusual there, and Spurs players have a go straight back at him after a bad tackle. Six booking in ten games for the Cherries midfielder.

1645: Almost for Brighton!

Adrian almost gave the Kop a collective heart attack as he dropped a simple catch and almost handed Maupay a simple tap-in, but just managed to gather at the second attempt.

1643: Good save Adrian!

The substitute keeper needs a smart save to deny Aaron Mooy as the hosts try to hang on in a nervy ending to this game at Anfield now.

1638: GOAL! Burnley 0-2 Crystal Palace (Schlupp 78)

Looks like game over at Turf Moor now as Palace double their lead late on - another classic Crystal Palace away performance from Roy Hodgson's Eagles.

1636: GOAL! Liverpool 2-1 Brighton (Dunk 79)

A combination of some quick thinking from Brighton and some woefully sloppy defending from Liverpool as the Seagulls take it quickly while Liverpool, and sub keeper Adrian, are still getting set-up for the free kick. HUGE ten minutes at Anfield now.

1633: RED CARD (Liverpool - Alisson 76)

The Liverpool keeper comes racing out of his box, then tries to retreat, and then worst of all handles the ball outside of his box and referee Martin Atkinson has no hesitation in brandishing the red card.

Crucially, as well as being down to ten men for this game Alisson will miss Wednesday's Merseyside derby.

1629: GOAL! Tottenham 3-1 Bournemouth (Wilson 73)

Harry Wilson really could be a Premier League star of the future and he gets another goal - which has gone down well in the Sporting Life office as our tip for this game comes in (Spurs to win & BTTS if you're interested).

1627: Sissoko goal GIF

I'm surprised Spurs even made one given his scoring record...all hail Jose!

1626: GOAL! Tottenham 3-0 Bournemouth (Sissoko 69)

Jose will certainly be a hero if he can get Sissoko scoring goals! It's a nice effort to put Spurs 3-0 up and it's his first goal since September 2017.

1625: GOAL - RULED OUT (VAR)

Michail Antonio this time has a goal chalked off as it hit his hand before he fired home - VAR getting a good workout today but, as far as the rules go, this one was spot on.

1621: Reds want more

Oxlade-Chamberlain has a shot blocked as Liverpool look for a third goal to kill this game off - his effort was turned away by Lewis Dunk.

1617: Same again - West Ham pressing

It's almost a repeat from West Ham from the resulting corner, and it's Michail Antonio this time who can't quite convert the chance.

1616: Great save!

West Ham almost doubled their lead at Stamford Bridge as Balbuena fired a header in from a corner, but a great save from Kepa keeps him out

1615: Stat attack

Dele Alli is a new man under Mourinho...

1607: GOAL! Tottenham 2-0 Bournemouth (Alli 50)

Jose Mourinho has transformed Alli back into the goal scoring machine he once was - you wonder what Pochettino was doing in the latter stages of his time at Spurs?

1605: GOAL! Chelsea 0-1 West Ham (Cresswell 48)

Aaron Cresswell breaks the deadlock early with a wonderful effort for the Hammers, who haven't exactly been adventurous at Stamford Bridge but have taken the lead early in this second half.

1600: We're back underway!

Let's see what the second half brings, hopefully some goals at Chelsea!

Stat attack

Heads up from Liverpool.

Half-times

1547: Pulisic miss

Huge chance for Pulisic, tipped up as a man to stay on the right side of in the goal scoring stakes, but he can't convert this one.

1546: Burnley 0-1 Palace (Zaha 45+1)

We do have a goal at Selhurst Park, I think, hang on, yes it's been confirmed that Zaha has scored again after he bagged against Liverpool last week. They really are a good side on the road.

1538: GOAL! Hang on, no goal! (VAR)

We'll have to start keeping score now of the VAR inputs. This goal from Ayew is ruled out for an offside on Van Arnholt but, again, it takes a while to straighten things out at Selhurst Park.

1534: Dunk duffs it!

Huge chance for Brighton and Lewis Dunk as he gets in on a cross as the Liverpool defence get caught napping, but he can't even hit the target from six yards out.

1530: Stat attack

1527: GOAL/NO GOAL (VAR)

What is it with Spurs and these VAR decisions? Davison Sanchez scores but it was quickly ruled out for handball. Nobody really is sure what's going on in the ground, what we do know is that the goal won't stand, still 1-0.

1524: GOAL! (Liverpool 2-0 Brighton - Van Dijk 24)

No, you've read that right, Van Dijk is on a hat-trick as he fires home from Alexander-Arnold's ball in, pretty ordinary defending from Brighton who are reeling after this quick-fire double.

1519: GOAL! (Tottenham 1-0 Bournemouth - Alli 21)

The real Dele Alli is standing up now under Mourinho and he's back making his trademark runs into the box - as Son lays it on for him beautifully to give Spurs the lead. They've never lost when Alli has scored a league goal for them!

1517: GOAL! (Liverpool 1-0 Brighton - Van Dijk 18)

Virgil van Dijk scores a header for Liverpool against Brighton
Virgil van Dijk scores a header for Liverpool against Brighton

No chance for Ryan this time as Virgil van Dijk rises to power a header beyond him to open the scoring for the hosts.

1512: Firmino chance!

Mane combined with Firmino at Anfield but Matt Ryan makes the save from the Brazilian who continues to struggle to score goals at Anfield.

1509: All Bournemouth

The Cherries have started brightly at Spurs and have had all of the ball, forced a corner and had a shot on target. Callum Wilson wastes a good chance with a header that he plants over the bar.

1507: Henderson holding

Jordan Henderson has moved into the Fabinho role for Liverpool it seems. It's actually Brighton who force the first corner though and already looking to give as good as they get.

1503: Chelsea chance

Mason Mount looks lively for the Blues already as he carves out a chance in the opening minutes at Stamford Bridge.

1500: Kick-off

We're underway in the four Premier League games

1455: City held - can Reds go 11 clear?

Man City were held at Newcastle after this belter from Jonjo Shelvey - his former club Liverpool can now go 11 points clear of Pep Guardiola's men with a win over Brighton today.

1430: Chelsea team news - Giroud starts!

A rare start for Olivier Giroud today for Chelsea against West Ham.

1415: Liverpool team news...

Oxlade-Chamberlain comes in for Fabinho in the Liverpool midfield, otherwise as you'd expect for the Reds.
