17:15 - ๐Ÿ‘‹ THANKS AND GOODBYE!

Well thanks for joining us on what has been another fascinating day in the Sky Bet EFL.

Norwich slipped up again and Sheffield United have an opportunity to go on and win the title, they sit three points behind the Canaries with a superior goal difference.

Lincoln secured the title in Sky Bet League Two to round off a superb season for them.

Alongside all that, we had in-play winners in Portsmouth v Coventry and Rotherham v Birmingham!

We'll be back again on Saturday as we cover all the action with the season drawing to a close. We hope you can join us then.

17:12 - ๐Ÿ”Ÿ PERFECT TEN!

Jonathan Kodjia's strike handed Aston Villa a historic tenth straight win
Jonathan Kodjia's strike handed Aston Villa a historic tenth straight win

"If you had asked me 11 games ago would we go and win the next 10 I would have thought you were a little bit crackers.

"The turning point was half-time at Stoke when I got into the players and we have been excellent since then.

"I don't think until I look back on it I will realise what we have actually done because my focus is still on getting promoted.

16:22 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Nottingham Forest 2-0 Middlesbrough - Alexander Milosevic

Boro have been poor and they're play-off hopes have taken a hit as they go 2-0 down at the City Ground. He was 40/1 with Sky Bet to grab a goal anytime a few minutes ago!

16:19 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Oldham 2-1 Mansfield - Tyler Walker

The Stags get a goal back!

  • Ipswich 0-1 Swansea - Wayne Routledge

The Ipswich faithful just want this season to be over, and they're now having to watch their side go behind again.

16:16 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Yeovil 1-0 Colchester - Jake Gray

Yes, do not adjust your sets, Yeovil are winning a game of football, just as Ben Barclay is sent off for Notts County too...

Just as I go to finish this update, Dillon Barnes is shown a straight red for a melee after the goal!

  • Rotherham 1-1 Birmingham - Jacques Maghoma

Good news if you got on the advice at half-time, and if you braved it a little and waited ten minutes into the second.

16:13 - ๐Ÿ“ ACCA UPDATE

Second-half is go! There won't be any twists at the top of the Sky Bet Championship but plenty still to play for across the EFL!

Tense...

Sporting Life's Premier League preview package for Chelsea v Burnley
Sporting Life's Premier League preview package for Chelsea v Burnley

There's a game in the Premier League tonight as Chelsea take on Burnley.

Click on the image above to read George Pitts' match preview alongside his recommended bets.

15:54 - ๐Ÿ” IN-PLAY RECOMMENDATION

There should have been more than one goal at the New York Stadium, where Rotherham have a slight advantage over Birmingham.

We've seen five shots on target, five shots off it alongside eight corners. There's a chance of goals (hopefully) in the second-half and Sky Bet currently have it at 10/11 that there are over 2.5 goals in this one.

Near even money looks decent value, while if you hold out for a bit longer those odds will increase, although you're at risk of missing out if there is an early strike.

Head here to bet

15:51 - ๐Ÿ“ ACCA UPDATE

  • Derby 0-0 QPR
  • Wycombe 0-0 Walsall
  • MK Dons 0-0 Port Vale
  • Forest Green 1-0 Cambridge

15:50 - ๐Ÿ“ HALF-TIME SCORES

Championship

  • Blackburn 1-0 Bolton
  • Derby 0-0 QPR
  • Hull 0-3 Sheffield United
  • Ipswich 0-0 Swansea
  • Nottingham Forest 1-0 Middlesbrough
  • Reading 0-0 West Brom (L)
  • Rotherham 1-0 Birmingham
  • Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Bristol City
  • Stoke 0-1 Norwich
  • Wigan 1-0 Preston (L)

๐Ÿค” ONE TO CONSIDER...

Hull look poor, incredibly poor. They have a good home record to defend but in all honesty they don't seem bothered by it at all now. They've lost this, and it should be more. McGoldrick is on for the hat-trick and has two goals to his name already.

Sky Bet have David McGoldrick at 11/2 to score the fourth goal of the game.

15:44 - ๐Ÿ“ธ ACTION SHOT

Barry Bannan scores a superb goal from 30 yards out for Sheffield Wednesday
Barry Bannan scores a superb goal from 30 yards out for Sheffield Wednesday

15:43 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Bristol City - Lucas Joao

Attempted lob, City defender tries to clear it and deflects it into his own net, should go down as a Joao goal though.

  • Bury 1-1 Northampton - Chris Stokes

A big goal at the top of Sky Bet League One

  • Hull 0-3 Sheffield United - Enda Stevens

Hull's defence have given up, the Blades are edging closer to the Premier League now!

15:39 - ๐Ÿ‘€ PENALTY!

...it's to Nottingham Forest! A huge chance to opening the scoring...

GOAL!

  • Nottingham Forest 1-0 Middlesbrough - Joe Lolley

Onel Hernandez celebrates his goal at Stoke City

15:30 - ๐Ÿ“ ACCA UPDATE

Forest Green take the lead! The other three games remain 0-0 around the half-hour mark.

15:29 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Rotherham 1-0 Birmingham - Matt Crooks

Huge goal at the bottom end of the Championship!

  • Charlton 1-0 Scunthorpe - Anfernee Dijksteel

Charlton wanting to get some good results before the play-offs next month.

  • Plymouth 0-3 Barnsley - Alex Mowatt

The Tykes have moved onto +41 on goal difference and are cruising this afternoon!

15:27 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Stoke 0-1 Norwich - Onel Hernandez

They're not getting promoted today, but they move even closer and should see it out against Stoke. Norwich lead through Hernandez!

15:26 - ๐Ÿ“ธ ACTION SHOT

Well, sort of. Anyway, Mick Foley must be loving it right now!

15:23 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Hull 0-2 Sheffield United - David McGoldrick

Sorry, Leeds fans, you ain't getting any favours from Hull. McGoldrick gets his second as he curls a wonderful effort into the bottom corner from outside the area. Good effort!

15:21 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Crawley 1-1 Notts County - Ashley Nathaniel-George

County switch off and Crawley make the most of it!

15:17 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Bristol City - Barry Bannan

Wowwwww! Bannan saw what Forestieri did on Friday night and goes for it himself. He smashes the ball into the top corner from 30 yards out! ๐Ÿ‘

15:16 - ๐Ÿค• BAD LUCK!

Well, not the best of starts for Reading.

It's still 0-0 against West Brom, but Nelson Oliviera and Yakou Meite are both forced off through injury less than 15 minutes into the game...

15:14 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Wigan 1-0 Preston - Leon Clarke

Preston are on the beach already, they gift Wigan a goal. A poor clearance goes backwards to Nick Powell who squares it to Clarke to tap into the empty-net.

15:11 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Hull 0-1 Sheffield United - David McGoldrick

Appalling defending from Hull! They leave David McGoldrick completely unmarked from a corner and he heads home. Too easy!

15:09 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Crawley 0-1 Notts County - Craig Mackail-Smith

A huge goal at the bottom end of Sky Bet League Two as Notts County, who are looking to drop out of the EFL, take the lead at the People Pension's Stadium.

15:08 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Shrewsbury 0-1 Oxford - Gavin Whyte

And now Oxford take the lead away at Shrewsbury.

15:06 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Swindon 0-1 Crewe - Chris Porter

First goal of the 3pm games goes to... CREWE! Chris Porter gives them the lead after just three minutes.

15:00 - โšฝ UNDERWAY

And we have kick-offs up and down the country!

Best of luck everyone.

14:57 - โŒš NEARLY THERE...

Minutes away from kick-off across the Sky Bet EFL. Excited, nervous? Let us know by Tweeting @SportingLifeFC and we'll include some of your Tweets in the blog!

14:55 - โŒš FULL-TIME!

Jonathan Kodjia puts Villa ahead
Jonathan Kodjia scores the winner
  • Aston Villa 1-0 Millwall

Millwall threatened a bit in the second-half but Villa get the job done, which means a club record ten consecutive victories!

What an achievement that is by Dean Smith's men ๐Ÿ‘

14:49 - ๐Ÿ›‘ DENIED!

El Ghazi is away on the left-hand side, he goes one-on-one with Martin and looks to finish it into the bottom left corner but Martin is there again to get a hand on it and knock it behind for a corner, which comes to nothing.

14:47 - ๐Ÿ‘€ CLOSE!

*CTRL + C, CTRL + V*

Millwall play a corner deep for Jake Cooper to head back across the box...

This time the follow-up shot goes just over, Millwall coming close.

14:42 - ๐Ÿ“ SKY BET EFL TIPS

Our best bets for the latest Sky Bet EFL action
Our best bets for the latest Sky Bet EFL action

Over to Paul again, this time it's Sheffield Wednesday v Bristol City:

"Bristol City are โ€˜on the bubbleโ€™ of the play-offs after a draw and defeat saw their progress stutter somewhat, and theyโ€™re now a point behind sixth-placed Boro, albeit with a game in hand, and with Derby just behind them thereโ€™s no real room for manoeuvre from here on in.

"Wednesday had threatened a play-off push themselves until recently, and theyโ€™ve looked a team more concerned about their summer holidays than anything else in the few games before earning an excellent 2-2 draw at Norwich.

"The Owls, then, are dangerous with nothing really to play for, but itโ€™s whether they can remain disciplined enough to contain a City side that have been decent enough on their travels and had big wins at Sheffield United and Middlesbrough a few weeks ago.

"Thereโ€™s been 13 goals in the last three Championship games at Hillsborough, while both teams have scored in five of last eight meetings between these two, which bodes well for the selection.

"The Owls have enough quality around to get a goal, but Bristol City are a desperate team, but also a talented team with a decent away record for an away win with both teams finding the back of the net is our bet for this one."

Best Bet: Bristol City to win & both teams to score at 5/1

14:37 - ๐Ÿ“บ WATCH!

(video no longer available)

If you're not in the mood for football quite yet (despite the fact that kick-off is nearly 20 minutes away), then watch this effort from Sheffield Wednesday's Fernando Forestieri in the Owls' 1-1 draw with Norwich on Friday night.

14:33 - ๐Ÿ“ SPORTING LIFE ACCUMULATOR

The latest Sporting Life Accumulator
The latest Sporting Life Accumulator

There's games still going on but a mention for the Sporting Life Accumulator, which again features four teams. We're going for:

  • Derby (to beat QPR)
  • Wycombe (to beat Walsall)
  • MK Dons (to beat Port Vale)
  • Forest Green (to beat Cambridge)

We had a 14/1 winner on Good Friday and we're hoping this comes in at 11/1. Click on the image above to back it.

14:29 - ๐Ÿ“ฐ WHAT'S THE LATEST?

Aston Villa still lead Millwall 1-0 as we approach the final 20 minutes of normal time. Villa are pushing for a second, but Millwall will fancy their chances of an equaliser the longer this goes on and the more nervous the crowd gets...

14:25 - โŒš FULL-TIME!

Brett Pitman scores the winning goal for Portsmouth against Coventry
Brett Pitman scores the winning goal for Portsmouth against Coventry
  • Portsmouth 2-1 Coventry

A massive result for the hosts who come from behind to win and move into second in the Sky Bet League One table.

Jordy Hiwula had put Coventry ahead inside the opening ten minutes, but Tom Naylor and Brett Pitman struck in the second-half to give Kenny Jackett's side a crucial three points.

14:21 - ๐Ÿ“ TEAM NEWS

For Stoke, Verlinden, Butland and Shawcross come in for Vokes, Federici and Collins.

Norwich could secure promotion today and they welcome back Emiliano Buendia after his three-game suspension.

14:18 - ๐Ÿ“ TEAM NEWS

Hull have gone for George Long in goal, while Marc Pugh and Robbie McKenzie both return to the starting XI.

For Sheffield United, John Egan and Scott Hogan return, while Chris Basham is fit enough to make the bench.

14:15 - ๐Ÿ“ฐ WHAT'S THE LATEST?

Apologies for how little time you've had to get on the recommendations in this League One game, it's been a very quick turnover in both but there's little we can do!

Pompey are now up to second and a point ahead of Barnsley, with both of the same number of games played. However, victory for Sunderland would move them back into the automatic promotion spots on goal difference...

14:12 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

  • Portsmouth 2-1 Coventry - Brett Pitman

You had to be quick to get on that last suggestion!

Pitman fires the home side ahead with a half-volley from a header that was knocked down, what a huge goal that could be!

14:09 - ๐Ÿ” IN-PLAY RECOMMENDATION

Pompey need a goal here to move into second, they're having chances and pushing the Coventry defence.

Sky Bet have the hosts at 9/4 to grab a winner with around ten minutes of normal time left...

13:55 ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH

Portsmouth 1-1 Coventry - Tom Naylor

The promotion chasing side are back in it as Tom Naylor smashes a header home from a corner

13:53 - ๐Ÿ“ SKY BET EFL TIPS

Our best bets for the latest Sky Bet EFL action
Our best bets for the latest Sky Bet EFL action

Over to Paul again, who is looking at Reading v West Brom:

"With a play-off place all-but secured, West Brom will already be thinking of clinching fourth and a home second leg in the semis โ€“ which often proves crucial, so theyโ€™ll want to finish the season strong.

"Goals could be on the menu here given Readingโ€™s recent form and weโ€™ve got two red-hot goalscorers here who could do the business for us if they both score on the day, with West Bromโ€™s Dwight Gayle banging in six goals in his last three games.

"Yakou Meite has four in three himself, with the Ivory Coast man also responsible for scoring four of Readingโ€™s last five home goals."

13:49 - โŒš HALF-TIME!

Jonathan Kodjia puts Villa ahead
Jonathan Kodjia puts Villa ahead
  • Aston Villa 1-0 Millwall

Kodjia's close range effort gives Villa the lead at the break and they deserve it on balance. That said, don't write off Millwall yet, they carry a threat every time they've managed to get the ball into the box. We know that they can strike in the second-half of contests too.

13:45 - ๐Ÿ’› YELLOW

Coventry goalkeeper Lee Burge is shown a yellow card for taking too long on a goal kick, we've only played 56 minutes. The referee has now made his point to the captain too. Remains 0-1.

13:43 - ๐Ÿ”ดโšช TIME TO CAPITALISE?

Portsmouth are still trailing against Coventry early into the second-half, will Sunderland capitalise on it when they take on Peterborough in just over an hour's time?

Still a long way to go in the contest at Fratton Park though.

13:36 - ๐Ÿ“ธ ACTION SHOT

Jonathan Kodjia gives Aston Villa the lead against Millwall
Jonathan Kodjia gives Aston Villa the lead against Millwall

13:33 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH!

  • Aston Villa 1-0 Millwall (Jonathan Kodjia)

They're on for the club record on ten consecutive wins! Kodjia makes amends for missing that one-on-one opportunity as he connects with El Ghazi's cross from close range.

13:32 - ๐Ÿ˜ฒ WHAT A CHANCE!

An awful back pass from Millwall plays Kodjia in one-on-one. However, he's denied by great goalkeeping from Martin, who manages to stop him from getting past and it goes behind for a goal kick.

13:30 - ๐Ÿ’› YELLOW

Jake Cooper is shown the first card of the game at Villa Park after he stopped Kodjia running through. Last man, but was near halfway so the right call from the referee.

Still 0-0 after 28 minutes.

13:26 - ๐Ÿ“ SKY BET EFL TIPS

Our best bets for the latest Sky Bet EFL action
Our best bets for the latest Sky Bet EFL action

Time to check out our tips for the games at 3pm. Paul Higham has stepped in for me in my absence last week and we'll start off at Hull v Sheffield United.

As Paul explains: "Hull could mathematically still make the play-offs, but realistically the seven-point gap is too much to bridge and back-to-back away defeats have effectively ended their play-off chances โ€“ how they react to that will determine the outcome here.

With these types of games down the stretch, whoever needs it most will likely run out winners, and the Blades at 11/10 would be the idea on the outright bet, but Hull are full of goals and Jarrod Bowen has now gone five games without scoring โ€“ thatโ€™s already too many for a player of his ability so weโ€™re backing him to get back on the scoresheet."

13:20 - ๐Ÿ” IN-PLAY RECOMMENDATION

Let's go for two from two in the early games.

At Villa Park, Millwall have grown into the game a bit and have had chances, especially from corners.

They have threatened and could well grab a goal in this contest. Sky Bet have Both Teams to Score at 11/10 currently with the large majority of the game still to go.

13:18 - โŒš HALF-TIME!

  • Portsmouth 0-1 Coventry

The away side have the lead at the break through Hiwula and they fully deserve it.

Kenny Jackett will need to get his side going in the second-half if they are to get their automatic promotion hopes back on track.

13:12 - ๐Ÿ‘€ CLOSE!

Villa nearly take the lead. Corner comes in, Martin completely misjudges the flight of the ball and Anwar El-Ghazi heads over from eight yards out. As expected, the hosts are seeing the better of the earlier chances. It's still 0-0.

13:09 - โŒš TAKE YOUR TIME...

...or not. The referee is already having words with Millwall goalkeeper David Martin.

No surprise to see the away side playing down the clock, which you imagine they will do a few times this afternoon, as long as they are level or ahead on the scoreboard.

13:07 - ๐Ÿ“ธ ACTION SHOT

Jordy Hiwula celebrates putting Coventry ahead against Portsmouth
Jordy Hiwula celebrates putting Coventry ahead against Portsmouth

13:02 - โšฝ UNDERWAY

  • Aston Villa v Millwall

And we've got a game on at Villa Park. We'll be keeping you updated on everything in both games here.

12:58 - ๐ŸŽ† BETTING SUCCESS!

We have a winner: Success in our latest Sky Bet EFL tips
We have a winner: Success in our latest Sky Bet EFL tips

Wow, how quickly did that one land!

Coventry have only gone and had three corners in the space of four minutes! That gives us an even money winner in one of the early kick-offs.

Lovely.

12:55 - ๐Ÿค” ONE TO CONSIDER...

Millwall are away at Villa, as we know, and they are battling for survival - despite Villa's great form at the moment.

A couple of weeks ago I tipped up Jake Cooper to score anytime at Sheffield United at 16/1. He did. They drew 1-1.

A repeat here? The away side's best chance of scoring may well be set-pieces again and the centre-back is certainly a presence...

12:51 - ๐Ÿ” IN-PLAY RECOMMENDATION

First one of the afternoon and it's in this game at Fratton Park. Portsmouth have to be wary of these Coventry counter attacks and Sky Bet have over 2.5 away corners at even money, which is well worth considering despite the fact they are yet to take one.

12:43 - ๐Ÿ“ TEAM NEWS

Heading over to the Sky Bet Championship where the in-form Aston Villa take on Millwall.

For the home side, Mile Jedinak starts in defence, while Jonathan Kodjia comes in to lead the line. Tommy Elphick returns to the bench.

One change for Millwall as Ben Marshall replaces Ben Thompson who misses out through injury.

12:39 - ๐ŸŒฉ GOAL FLASH!

  • Portsmouth 0-1 Coventry (Hiwula)

Well, Pompey started well but it's Coventry who take the lead with their first attack! Great through ball from Enobakhare and Hiwula turns inside the area and smashes it into the back of the net.

Not the start that Kenny Jackett's men wanted...

12:30 - โšฝ UNDERWAY

  • Portsmouth v Coventry

We're underway in League One where Portsmouth welcome Coventry to Fratton Park.

Victory for Pompey will move them into second in the table, ahead of Barnsley's game away at Plymouth and Sunderland's trip to Peterborough - both of those games kick-off at 3pm.

12:27 - ๐Ÿ‘‹ HELLO AND WELCOME!

Good afternoon from Sporting Life HQ on what is glorious Easter Monday weather! It's a perfect day to enjoy some football and we've got nearly a full fixture list across the Sky Bet EFL today.

Tom Carnduff and Gareth Jones are with you today and we'll be providing full match commentary of Aston Villa v Millwall in the early kick-off alongside keeping you updated as Portsmouth take on Coventry in League One's early kick-off.

Then from 3pm, we'll be focusing on every game with a lot to play for at the top and bottom end of each divisions. We'll be keeping you updated with all the latest statistics and odds alongside our own in-play recommendations on what catches our eye.

Hopefully it's set to be a scorcher of a day on and off the pitch ๐Ÿคž.
